Original Wood Finish, Pint

This is astonishingly better than mineral oil. I like the appearance. It was easy to apply with lint free cloth I did 2 applications. The first one one side let it sit for an hour wipe off the excess then let dry for 24 hours. flip and do the other side. then repeat. I did not do the light 00 steel wool to polish it because it is a cutting board. There is no smell and the quality is amazing. the coverage is great with 2 coats completed I barely used 1/10 of the bottle. The product goes a long way and will be able to to use the product for a long time. I really like the finished look on my hand made high end cutting board.

Ive been doing woodwork for awhile now. Ive even made my own oil. I have to say for the price this stuff is the way to go. Very easy to apply no bad odor. It does not change the color and looks great. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Doesn't matter if your new to woodworking or been doing it for years this is a great product.

I am not a professional woodworker. A couple of years ago I bought some small walnut counters for my apartment's kitchen. Everything I read at the time suggested Rubio's Monocoat as a good countertop finish, so that's what I specced for the fabricator. While I wasn't completely thrilled with the look of the counters, I lived with them for a couple of years, bought the Rubio soap for their upkeep, and watched them look progressively drier and more stained. Despite my best attempts at babying them, every tiny spatter would stain them and there were the beginnings of some splitting. (I can't verify the application of the Rubio's product, so I don't know whether this was the product or user error.) Figuring I had little to lose from refinishing them, I went down a very deep rabbit hole investigating wood finishing. I needed something safe for countertops with no VOCs, since I had no choice but to refinish them in my apartment and I didn't want the smell driving me out of my home. I found Tried and True and it seemed to check the boxes, adding that, going forward, I could potentially do any spot repairs without completely stripping the finish. Watching their videos and following their instructions, I lightly sanded the countertops with 220 grit sandpaper and then with 0000 steel wool which, together, gave the counters a much silkier feel than they'd ever had (I'm assuming here that I pretty much got rid of the Rubio product with this step). Then, as per their instructions, I applied the Tried and True using very little product: essentially just enough to change the color of the wood. Wiped it down after an hour and left it for 24 hrs to cure. The smell, which I didn't find at all unpleasant, dissipated very quickly. After buffing with 0000 steel wool, I repeated this process 2 times-- 3 coats in total. Not that it was necessary, but 24 hours after the 3rd coat, I took a bit of the T and T and buffed it into the wood with the 0000 steel wool (maybe this is technically a 4th coat?). This all sounds like a lot as I'm typing it, but apart from the initial sanding, most of the time was spent waiting for the Tried and True to cure. The whole process (which I was dreading) was surprisingly satisfying. Also of note is how very little product it takes to achieve such a rich looking finish. Now the wood looks exquisite. I can't keep my hands off it. While it's too soon to tell how it will wear, knowing that I can do spot repairs should they become necessary is very reassuring. Currently looking around at other wooden pieces in my home that look like they need some love...

We’ve used polyurethanes and other sealer / protectants in the past. But for our current project (a food surface), we wanted something more natural. One of our sons recommended Tried and True. I’m so glad we tried this. It’s simple ingredients (no gnarly stuff) and gives a beautiful finish. (I’ve included before and after photos.) First, it’s all natural linseed oil (flaxseed oil) and beeswax. That’s it. No chemicals, no smelly fumes, no worry about getting it on your skin. In fact, it felt wonderful to rub it into our dry hands after working with the wood all day. It goes on super easy with an old tshirt cloth. Wait one hour, wipe off any excess, then rub with 0000 steel wool. Beautiful! It’s water resistant. (Not water proof). Feels lovely to the touch. Before applying the first coat, be sure to sand well. We found that wetting our maple slab after a 120-grit sand helped pull up the grain. Then we sanded again with 240. Then wet it again to pull up the grain, then sanded again with 320. Wet it again and sanded with 400. THEN we applied the first coat. We’ll likely do a second application in a few days. I highly recommend this product and will definitely be buying more for future projects. But lucky us, a little goes a long way. We bought a gallon to cover a 6-foot maple slab (2.5”thick), and we used maybe an eighth of the gallon for one application.

Pros; it Leaves a really nice shine, makes colors pop, it’s waterproof(once dry), it doesn’t crust unlike some other finishes, and the price is pretty good for what it is, also doesn’t leave nearly as bad of a smell as most other finishes after it’s dried Cons; it takes FOREVER to dry, wiping off the excess with a paper towel or something is a necessity, also while it makes some colors pop more, if there’s similar colors(I wood burned a coaster so it was dark brown on light brown) the details become really hard to make out

I was needing to finish a live edge table and didn't want to go with polyurethane or wipe on tung oil so I ordered this Linseed oil and beeswax finish. I am so happy I did. Application is easy and clean, no nasty evaporated chemicals and it looks beautiful. It has only been 2 weeks, so time will tell on durability. Before and after pics included

My house is 50 years old with stained cabinets which I love but the wood has dried out and I could not find a product which actually remoistened the wood. The cabinets look so much better and I no longer feel the wood will split. I recommend anyone with an older home with stained wood which looks dried out to try this product. I would also recommend others with a newer home to try this to maintain the luster of the finish.

If Ron Swanson were a real person, he would use this wood finish. Quick review: 5/5. Details: I rarely leave reviews for items, however this finish is exceptional in many ways. I appreciate that the smell is both pleasant and not overwhelming. The fact that it is a natural product and is non-toxic is a major benefit. I am a simple, amateur engraver, but I exclusively use this finish for my products due to its high quality (quick and efficient absorption/natural boost to vibrance and saturation color), environmental considerations, and ease of use. There are few things as enjoyable as being able to feel the wood while crafting, without worrying about wearing expensive and bulky PPE or complicated ventilation setups. When I give gifts to friends and family who are parents of young children or own pets, I want to ensure the gifts are safe in case they are misplaced and then chewed on by the small animals. The same safety goes for my household. This is a major reason why I solely use this product. Please see the results of this product in my photos. Note that the user is an amateur and performed the maintenance humbly and without consulting specific guidebooks. Always follow applicable safety rules and regulations.

Super easy to use and lasts way longer than expected

Good product delivered on time

I want to start out by saying I am not a wood worker, I am not a DIYer, and I have never finished wood before. I am a mom who needed a non-toxic finish for a bed frame and ChatGPT recommended this one! I was a little hesitant to order this after reading the one-star reviews of people saying it was sticky and wouldn’t dry etc. After actually using the stuff, I have come to the conclusion that these people are absolutely out to lunch and definitely did not ready the instructions. I used this to finish a bed frame my husband made out of your typical 2 x 4 lumber. First impressions: the smell is not bad at all, and a little goes a loooong way. I cut up an old tshirt and put a dime sized amount of Tried and True onto it and began to rub it into the wood, going with the grain. The difference this stuff makes is unreal! The wood which had been sanded with 100 grit and felt a little rough is now sooo smooth. The wood grain and details are much more pronounced and now has a nice subtle sheen. The process was quick and basically mess free. The wood does not feel wet, tacky, or even the slightest bit greasy. I can’t wait to rub the steel wool on and see how much better it gets! A message for the “experts” that rated this stuff one-star: it isn’t stain… you don’t coat the wood with it!

Vraiment, ce produit est super. Ma table reluit, elle est comme neuve. Comme le produit est épais, il faut frotter assez fortement lors de l’application et également pour la finition après 24 heures.

Easy to apply and makes the wood look beautiful. I used it on an antique table after sanding it down to refinish.
