This the GUIDE, not the handbook

Don't be dumb like me and order this book, thinking it is the Machinery Handbook at a great price. It is just the GUIDE to the handbook, and is useless without the handbook itself.

Classic reading and reference for machinists and students alike.

This series of books was recommended to me by a friend in the machining industry. Boy was he right. These books cover everything. Highly recommended for the beginning to advanced machinist, student, and mechanical engineer. These books have everything from charts, maps, and standards to algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and basic principles of mechanical engineering. They also feature real world applications and word problems, as well as diagrams where necessary. If I could describe this series in one word, it would be "comprehensive". I recommend buying the Handbook, the Handbook Guide, and the Companion to have the full suite of basic to in depth knowledge at your fingertips. These books pay off in dividends over time.

this is a concise condensed version of the fullblown book

this text lacks the details of machine work concentrating mostly on the math involved. the formulas are all there and for a quick reference in the shop this is great. however you need the other full blown book to know the tools and such for machine work

Note, this is a guideboook.

NOTE: This is the guide to the machinist's handbook, not the handbook its self. Full of good information. And practice problems including tolerances, geometry and fixturing.

It's a Guide, specifically the 29th Guide for the Machinery Handbook, so wasn't exactly what I thought it was, will keep it though and try to get the book that it would guide me through.
