For the life of me I don't understand why people buy rubs like this. I like Malcolm but you should just make your own rubs. It's not that difficult.

According to the ingredients I would say no...salt, pepper, spices...no mention of chili peppers

Does this rub contain any pepper?

Yes! it's a pepper-heavy rub that was designed for brisket and beef

Is calcium silicate required for these rubs? Only reason I didn’t pull the trigger on the buy.

It’s not required but those rubs that do not contain them have a tendency to harden and begin to cake up. This is present to prevent caking of the bottle of rub.
