No the keys are not soft; they are firm but light and thin. They feel a bit cheap but not too bad and with the backlight work well especially as the keys are set up for Pro Tools actions. Good for low/mood light working. If you use Pro Tools get this or one like it. Don't get the stickers unless you have a keyboard you really like.
