A good source of food for honeybees in the winter

hive alive was about done so i threw these(lemongrass) in the hives for the rest of winter . they grabbed onto it right away even abandoning the hive alive in other boxes to go for this. sometimes ill leave both if they aren’t done w the hive alive yet. i’m not sure if these are better nutritionally but the bees sure like eating it . will def buy again before winter . i’ll store the rest till then.

I purchase these sugar cakes from Priddy Acres every year for my hives in Wisconsin. I love how easy it is to add the sugar squares to the hive, they don't break as long as you are careful, and the bees eat every last drop. I tried making my own sugar cakes and the consistency is never as good as this product. They smell so good too.

I’m new to beekeeping and due to a bad drought this year I don’t think my bees have enough stores of their own to get through winter so I ordered this. I put some of the Sweet-B Simple Bee Fondant out today near my syrup mixture and it was covered in bees within 5 minutes so I know the bees love it! I have a top bar hive so now I’ve got to figure out how to make a frame to put it in but hopefully it helps my bees survive the winter months. I will be buying more when I run out.

We started our apiary late in the summer so the bees didn't have enough time to put up sufficient honey stores for the winter. Know we would have to keep them fed throughout the winter if they were to survive we toyed with a number of different methods of feeding throughout the long, cold Maine winter. I stumbled across this product on Amazon and just decided to buy the feeder and this product. Sure glad I did. The bees love this stuff and here we are in January and they are all thriving. I bought a bunch of it and keep it in the freezer where it keeps very nicely until it's time to put it out for the bees. NO MESS, NO FUSS. Just drop a cake or two into the feeder and close it up. The bees will do the rest.

Great product… It definitely draws the bees…I feed my bees in the falls months and through the winter…The bricks of fondant can be used in hives but I use it by setting it on a milk crate with a pie pan..
