Blazing Fast & Universally Compatible: A Must-Have Adapter! Highly recommended! ;)
I recently picked up this 2.5G USB to Ethernet Adapter, and I'm genuinely impressed. It's truly a game-changer for anyone looking to boost their wired network speeds and ensure a stable connection across a wide range of devices. The "2-IN-1 USB-C to RJ45 LAN" design is incredibly convenient, making it versatile enough for almost anything I throw at it. I've used it with my MacBook for work, my Steam Deck for gaming, and even my TV Box for streaming, and the performance has been consistently excellent. The plug-and-play functionality meant I was up and running in seconds, with no drivers or complicated setup required. What really stands out is the 2.5Gbps speed. My home network already supports 2.5G, and this adapter seamlessly integrates, providing a noticeable improvement over standard Gigabit Ethernet. Downloads are snappier, online gaming feels more responsive, and streaming is flawlessly smooth. If you're tired of unreliable Wi-Fi or just want to maximise your wired connection's potential, this adapter is an absolute winner. It's compact, well-built, and delivers on its promises. Highly recommended!

Dual adapter for any laptop
This is a great ethernet adapter fits usb c and usb a, just the job for laptops as many dont come with ethernet adapters anymore.

Just OK.
Works when initially plugged in but when the PC is turned off and then turned back on it is not recognised and needs to be unplugged and then plugged back in for it to recognise the device again. This will over time cause wear and tear on the item.

Super fast
Brilliant for when I'm away from the desk and need high upload speeds to NAS. Super fast, especially compared with my GBE adapter that I've had since I was a teen. Also, providing a USB-C is now a must for a lot of users such as Mac users so very happy with that.

Successful ethernet connection
I bought this specifically to add an ethernet port to my Microsoft Surface (which has very very limited external port access). It has proved a very competent piece of kit and allows me to also connect three devices via USB. It’s worth noting that this has a very short connecting cable. It all seems to work well hence five stars.

Apparent problem with the adaptor resolved with the help of Omivine staff
The device worked fine for three months but then suddenly, although the Ethernet still connected, there was no Internet connection. After discussion with Omivine and them sending me a replacement adaptor, the issue turned out to be my router. Having reset the router, the adaptor is now working perfectly again. I cannot praise the staff enough for their helpfulness and patience.

Unreliable USB connection - there are better ones on the market!
TL;DR: Doesn't work well on anything I own. Positive: Linux, BSD and Windows all recognised the device. (Mostly - see details below.) Negative: I thought that I am smart. Why should I buy anything more expensive than this (£13 after a £2 off coupon), if it has the same Realtek network chip as any other 2.5Gbs USB adapters here? It must be the same. Boy, I was wrong. I ordered right away five of these. One was dead on arrival. The others gave me not much joy either. I wanted to create a fast, 2.5Gbs network at home between my Linux servers, Synology NAS and Windows desktop computer and maybe adding one to my OPNsense box too. Linux experience: A HP microserver happily works with one of these units. The connection is stable. Success. Two others (HPE EC200a) only recognised the units on their front USB3 connector. On the back the adapter was reseting itself constantly and the machine could not recognised it. Okay, let's connect it to the front, whatever. But here it was not stable either. After about 1-20 minutes, it disconnects from the host's and reset itself so you need to do a network reload, what is not too convenient on a server. (Just a hobby, home-lab). I tried to swap them around but no luck. Okay, let's blame the hardware. I grabbed other devices to try those with Linux and got the same experience with disconnection / device reset issues on two laptops and on a desktop computer. Interestingly it worked better if I connected it on USB-C, without it's adapter. Better, but still not stable. After all this trouble with all the other units, it is weird, why it works flawlessly on the HP microserver... On Synology, it worked just as bad as on Linux. It seemed to be okay, iperf3 showed satisfactory 2.35Gbs speeds, but after it disconnected from the device and you had to manually intervene to get it back online. Okay, let's see if it is any better on Windows. Yep, it looks okay on Windows, however, it showed a 2.5Gbs link speed, but it could never exceed 1Gbs. I checked if it is on USB3 and on the switch it shows 2.5Gbs too, but it was just too slow. To be fair, its replacement UGREEN version could not achieve more than 1.5Gbs on Windows either, what is weird as on the same machine, on Linux, it could go 2.35 with the UGREEN. The Windows speed issue was the same with a HP laptop and with a Dell desktop. Both of them modern machines. I tried updating the drivers, fiddling with the adapter settings etc, but I could never achieve the 2.35 Gbs speed what I could on Linux. Luckily Windows was not my priority, otherwise I would feel that the device let me down. On OPNsense: the device was recognised but it was not stable at all - similar troubles like on Linux. Plus, the speed was super low (250-350Mbs). It was true for the UGREEN version too. Here, I cannot rule out that the device maybe connected only on USB2 speed, even on a USB3 port. I sent back all of my units, except the one what is working on the HP micro. I replaced them with the UGREEN ones, what are normal USB only, not USB-C. (UGREEN USB Ethernet Adapter, 2.5Gbps High-Speed Network Adapter for Gaming, USB 3.2 Gen 1 RJ45 Gigabit LAN Adaptor, Compatible with Laptop, PC, Switch, Xbox, Router, Surface Pro, Steam Deck https://amzn.eu/d/7KaRugY) Those works as expected. No disconnection issues, good speeds (except on Windows). After all, I started to suspect that the USB controller chip must be a funny one on these. Anyway, do yourself a favour and get something better, like the UGREEN ones.

Polecam
