Do I need a "C" Wire is what my review is mainly about. I've been concerned about this for a while - my system is from 1964 and I knew there was no C wire. One of the key clues is that this thermostat comes with re-chargeable batteries. According to online research you should only need to charge them once every year or so. That said, This thermostat EASILY connected without a C wire and took maybe a half hour to install. It was very straightforward. The Google Home ap just took a bit of user exploring to figure it out - but it was not difficult, just a bit of trial and error. If you have an old house without a C wire - do not be intimidated by this. There are some exceptions that are listed in the description ... heat only, ac only, or heat pump - but for the average system with no C wire - this was plug and play. The instructions came with some cool little labels to mark the wire's as you take them off. Even though mine was straight forward, I believe these would be very handy if the wire color is hard to identify ... OR ... if the system was installed incorrectly. I would use the old thermostat as the guide to what color is what. The only reason this wasn't a 5 star review is simply because it's "brand new". To get that 5th star I want to see how long it lasts, and how well it integrates with my electric provider. As far as cosmetics go - This thing looks awesome. My main goal was to be able to turn the heat on in the morning from my warm bed, versus walking down the hallway. Call me lazy - but ... boy was it nice to do that this morning! I love this thermostat!
