The MSI MAG A850GL is a high-quality, fully modular, 80 Plus Gold-rated PSU, and this is actually the second one I’ve bought. I originally purchased one for my own Corsair FRAME 4000D build and was very pleased with it, so I bought the same model again for the kids’ AM4 gaming rig in a Corsair 3500X case.The 850W capacity is more than enough for the mid-range systems we’re running, with an NVIDIA RTX 5060 / AMD RX 9060 XT, B550 motherboard and Ryzen 7 5700X. The PSU fan is whisper quiet and certainly isn’t audible above the case fans in either of our builds.Being fully modular is a big plus, as you only need to connect the cables you actually require. In our case that’s the motherboard, CPU, PCIe and a single Molex cable for the fan controllers. MSI also provides a useful storage bag for the spare cables, which keeps everything together for future upgrades.The all-black PSU and cables look smart and, in both of our cases, the PSU is largely hidden anyway, so there’s no need to pay extra for fancy sleeved cables unless you specifically want them.Price is another strong point. I paid £76 for this one and £85 for the first. Prices do fluctuate, so it’s worth keeping an eye on deals and comparing the 750W and 850W versions — when I bought this one, the 850W model was actually cheaper than the 750W.Overall, I’m very happy with it. It offers plenty of power, quiet operation, fully modular cabling and a Gold efficiency rating at a very reasonable price. It also compares very favourably with the Corsair and be quiet! options in the same price range. Having bought two now, I’d have no hesitation recommending it.

I picked up the 850w version (A850GL) for new build as it ticked all boxes.- 80+ Gold rated- Enough power to handle my current and any future GPUs.- Modular cables- Decent brand- Quiet enough- Sensible pricePCs suck juice these days, so getting a PSU that super efficient when just browsing youtube and still going to be able to handle those powerful GPU spikes is a win.I didn't realized on purchase but it's future proof as it has a dedicated 16pin 12vhpwr (600W) connector and cable for the high end Nvidia GPUs. That cable has yellow connectors to visible show if it's fitted correctly and is super clean looking. Unfortunately it's not something I can use with older my RTX 3080 so I have to keep the 12-dual 8pin adapter.It's quiet in that I can't tell it's on. It doesn't have zero fan mode like more expensive models but I can't hear it over the very low my other components make.In the box their isn't much, just the PSU and small sealable bag with cables, no fluff, no bull - just what's needed. A decent product at competitive price. Very pleased with the purchase. Delivery next day thanks to Amazon prime.

I bought this unit to power an old Dell desktop which needed a new PSU. I decided on this one for a few reasons:Modular cabling - fewer cables cluttering up case giving more space for ventilation.Size - It's standard ATX depth (140mm) (smaller than some of the other high power PSUs). It fit perfectly in my PC case.Power - I wanted to upgrade the GPU to something more modern. The 850 Watts this PSU can deliver is plenty for that upgrade.Known brand - MSI is a company that has been around for a while.Future proofing - It's a latest generation model, so if I decide to repurpose this PSU for another newer system it will work.There are a couple of negatives. The cables are quite long. That gives flexibility in how to route cables but does mean that you have to find a place in the case to put any excess. I also found it fiddly to separate the 8 pin CPU connector into two 4 pin connectors (I needed a 4 pin for the old motherboard).Overall, I'm very pleased with this PSU. It's well built, was a reasonably easy install, is providing stable power, has a good warranty, and is made by a well-known company.

MSI MAG A850GL is a premium feeling PSU for less money that the big manufacturers.The unboxing experience was made it feel like you were buying a much more expensive product. The PSU itself was safely contained in think soft foam. Next to the PSU was the bag of modular cables. My PSU came a good selection of cables. All the normal cables you'd expect and the 12VHPWR .Most cables were 'flat', making it easy to route and hide in my PC case. Weirdly the 12VHPWR was braided but instead of individual cables, it was the entire bunch of cables done as one. A weird choice if you ask me as it kinda looks odd compared the other cables. The cable length great, I did not have any issues with cables being too short or too long for my build.The PSU has a platinum cybernetics rating at 230V for power and a standard + for sound. The PSU does not appear to be loud, but time will tell. Currently the PSU if quite enough that I cannot hear it over the other fans in my PC.If I had to change anything, I'd like to see MSI remove the braiding from the 12VHPWR (keep everything consistent) and change the last SATA power connector to be flat, not a right-angle connector.Overall, I can definitely recommend this PSU.

I bought this MSI MAG A850GL to power my new upgrade (running a brand new RTX card), and it has been flawless.A great surprise was that although the description mentioned PCIe 5.0, the unit I received actually comes with the updated PCIe 5.1 standard, including the safer 12V-2x6 cable instead of the older fire hazard cables from previous gen.Despite being a compact unit, it delivers a solid 850W, and the new cable made cable management in my case a breeze without needing ugly adapters. It runs incredibly quiet, the build quality feels premium, and it handles heavy gaming loads without a single hiccup.Highly recommended if you want a reliable, future-proof, and compact powerhouse!

Unfortunately, after only around five weeks of normal use, the PSU fan started making a noticeable grinding/rattling noise. For a component this new, that is extremely disappointing and not something I would expect from a power supply in this price range.The PSU itself has otherwise powered my system without any obvious issues, but a fan developing this kind of noise after such a short period makes me question the long-term reliability of the unit. A power supply is one of the components you should be able to install and forget about, not something you expect to develop mechanical problems within just over a month.I can also see quite a few other reviews mentioning the same or a very similar grinding noise from the fan, so it doesn’t seem like I’m the only one having this issue.

Una fuente de alimentación fiable y con garantía de futuro para gamers y creadores apasionados unque había visto comentarios de que era ruidosa, ahorita la armé con am5 un ryzen 5 7500F y una grafica provisional Rx6600, tal vez por eso no se nota que la fuente se esfuerza pero en un futuro voy a cambiar a una mejor gráfica más potente que aproveche el conector 12+4 pines de alimentación, lo único que no me gustó y que está incómodo de colocar es el conector de 24 pines para la motherboard, eso de que tengas que doblas el cable para colocarlo no me parece la mejor ingeniería, aunque claro, es funcional, y los cables se sienten muy resistentes, espero que duren mucho tiempo
