works well to give FreeView and recording,
I have been using BT box, which I think is actually a humax, for over a decade- this one replaced my old one which was beginning to creak a bit. Main complaint would be you can only record two channels, at a time, and this precludes you from watching athird channel. But quite honestly, I like the simplicity of this box and its reliability so much that I am happy to live with this constraint. It was delivered in double quick time which was a big plus as well. It is plug and play, alathough there are a number of user choices you can make withing the settings- once you find them. its worth five stars for reliabiliy and ease of operation. and plug and play (well almost).

Cut the contract - buy the box and enjoy amazing media
I bought this used on Amazon to replace a Virgin Media bos. It is infinitely better and the apps such as iplayer, itv hub and Netflix work really well. The remote is a tiny bit fiddly and you do need to but some cheap network mains plugs to 'hard wire the box' via your mains plugs to the router- its really simple. Don't hesitate this is a bargain and frees you from the never ending contacts of Sky, Virgin and BT etc. The hard disc is enormous plus the iPhone app is really clever. You can look at what's on whilst traveling home, set the record options to record series or individual programmes etc. And this version is future proof to 4K. Currently I watch in 'steam powered HD' and it still looks amazing. It's a very small neat box with funky leds to show one or two channels recording ( blue - watching, red- recording). Summary- the best value, contract cutting device you can buy for your home!

Excellent value
A great Freeview recorder. A very neat box with lots of capabilities. Picture quality great in HD (donโt have an ultra HD TV...but now tempted). Very good user interface and menu system. My only and โnit picking โ criticism was some buttons too close together on the remote.

A superb little Youview box with great performance.
I already own the DTR-T2100, but I needed extra recording capacity, so decided to go for the 1TB version. The DTR-T2100 was moved to my bedroom as it is quiet - the DTR-T4000 is in my lounge as the main STB. I already wrote a review about the T2100 and you'll see I was very happy with it as a replacement for my lapsed Sky TV subscription. I am also very happy with the DTR-T4000 - it is noticeably quicker when scrolling through the EPG and when launching players such as Netflix - I guess it has a faster processor on board. I do hear the fan occasionally, particularly when the box is working hard, like recording two channels and streaming - however, it doesn't bother me. The box is warm during operation, but it doesn't get hot like some people have reported. Just make sure it is well ventilated. I don't have a BT subscription, so I don't get the premium channels. I just wanted this box for the extra recording capacity and to get Netflix in UHD. The LED light at the front is really cool - it dynamically changes when the box is recording. In conclusion, a superb little Youview box.

Mind-boggling, deal-breaking omissions
As rare as it happens, this box ticked most, if not all the boxes that I was searching for: -Recieves aerial transmission - tick! -Clear, crisp picture - tick! -Quick and easy interface - Almost tick! -Ability to record a channel and view a different channel simultaneously - tick! -Reasonably priced (ยฃ130) - tick! So why only a one star review? Of course the box has a number of incredible, excruciating omissions. Firstly, the remote does not have a Recall button to flick back and forth between two channels. TV sets in the 90s had this feature. This is a bizarre and unforgivable omission in itself. Also, I could bang my head off the wall at how poorly designed the remote layout is. The navigation arrows, the most used on any remote, are impossible to distinguish by touch. You have to look down at the remote to use them because the "Info" "Back", volume and program up-down buttons are in such close proximity that you always end up pressing one of these by mistake. The channel management settings are horrendously scant. It only gives you one option: the option to "hide" channels and this doesn't even work properly. There are garbage channels tuned in between all the good channels so the option to either hide these or rearrange all the desirable channels to the top is a crucial option that is bizarrely not included in the software! (I have looked up forums showing countless people crying out for this solution as far back as 2012 but they have still neglected to include it!) Trying to find the channel you want is an exhausting endeavor as everything is jumbled all over the place! And even the act of finding the desired channel is painful. Like many cheap boxes, they seem to have programmed in a stupid obligatory split second delay/animation lag from the time you press the button on the remote to the input occurring on screen. It seems the sole purpose for this is to annoy the user, can't think of any good reason for these lags or flashy animations. I am more angry at this box than a lot of cheaper boxes I have purchased in the past for the basic, fundamental features they neglected to put in.

Easy to use.
Having used a similar box when with BT, but not the 4k version, I was happy to see that the unit was very similar and worked in the same way. The old box still works well after 4 years but the remote was very tired and intermittent. I had planned to simply buy a new remote but saw this for only around ยฃ50.00 more than a remote and of course included one. No brained, I got this and it's brilliant. Ultra HD, twice as much recording ability and just the same to operate as my previous one. The old one is now continuing to serve in a guest room, so all good. Definitely recommend.

Great company and quality product
I ordered an ordinary BT youview box to replace one I have had for some years now. Received a text to let me know my order had been upgraded to a BT pro box and was this ok. I replied yes Thankyou. The parcel arrived on 24 January as promised and was well packaged. Decided not to use the WiFi option for the box as despite booster boxes in my home , WiFi is patchy at times. Hard wired it using a booster plug and wire provided in the box. Works perfectly and much improved from the ancient box I had before. Thankyou to Technology Giant company , you are fab.

Expensive and unreliable
This product is connected to our main TV set, replacing an older one which I acquired some time ago as reconditioned. This new one frequently fails to connect to broadband although we have a strong cable-based signal which is OK. I cannot find anyone to advise on this problem, least of all BT, and am very frustrated by this new product's unreliability. As things are cannot recommend.
