Valentina Lisitsa is a remarkable pianist, with consistent YouTube video views reaching over 90 million total and with almost 200,000 subscribers. Following her recent, well-received recordings of Glass, Nyman, and the Études of Chopin and Schumann, she now turns to the piano works of Scriabin. For Scriabin’s 100th anniversary in 2015 – Valentina delves into his lesser-known works and finds some beautiful gems. Across a carefully selected range of works for piano, this album showcases Scriabin’s compositions through his lifetime.

Valentina is wonderful in this music. Disc was a bargain at the price and it arrived quite quickly.

Beautiful performances
These are beautiful, idiomatic performances of short Scriabin works (i.e. they do not include the sonatas) ranging across his output - quite a few early pieces, some middle and a few late. I can say this, although I have not bought this CD, because these are duplications of the pieces Valentina Lisitsa plays which are included in the 18 CD Scriabin Complete Works which came out last year. I am assuming that they actually are the same recordings. It is great to have them all bundled together on one CD, but people who bought the excellently priced Complete Works (which I did) may not want this as well. If you didn't buy the Complete Works set - well this would be a great buy.
