The heavy duty Log Tweezers help maneuver hot burning logs. They are very handy when trying to place a log just in the right place. It's made from 3/16â thick x 5/8â wide, hot rolled steel and reaches 2â 6â. Made in the USA. Review: This product is sturdy and strong. Easily grabs any size log and allows you to place it where you want. Was a little stiff to open and close initially , but a little bit of wd40 fixed that. Would definitely recommend Review: Please see the title for my overall opinion of this item. One comment here: there were a couple of negative reviews about the product being covered in "black paint" or "black grease." I'm glad to have read these reviews because they alerted me to be cautious when unpacking them (i.e.: NOT on a kitchen countertop or carpet & certainly not with fine clothing on.) There IS some residue, but it doesn't seem like paint OR grease; it's probably a byproduct of the manufacturing process. These are made of HEAVY black steel & they appear to be anodized (a coating with a protective oxide layer by an electrolytic process.) The residue seems to be a byproduct of the anodizing process, or perhaps the manufacturer uses a magnetic powder coating / paint. Whatever it is, it's this sort of thing; it's NOT wet OR greasy, but it does stain, & the stains ARE tenacious. Wear old work gloves when opening this item when it arrives. It's likely going to be used in the yard (patio) so there's no need to have it any more indoors than in a garage or shed. In time, the coating will likely wear off (not that this will leave them unprotected; again, they are VERY well made) & should leave less residue. Have a can of lubricant on hand; the rivets that form the hinges are stiff at first (again, a testament to how well made they are) but hardly inoperable. One reviewer suggested using gun oil; that would work well. So would 3-in-1 oil, WD-40 or silicone spray, but gun oil is probably the best choice.

I read a lot of reviews about tongs bending because too thin or cheaply made; I wanted none of that. I wanted heavy-duty tongs that could throw around firewood without worrying about breaking or bending or ruining anything. Reviews said these would fit the bill. And out of the box they definitely feel very sturdy and well made. I'll be using heavily over the next few months and will see if there are any long-term issues with durability. One caveat: out of the box I grabbed them by the handles and my hands came off black, stained by whatever paint or finishing they put on this. Washing with soap and water cleaned my hands up, but I was worried about the tongs touching my clothing or the carpet or something else and rubbing off black. Sure, if the tips that grab the wood stain things, who cares, since there will be ash on them soon (which stains). But the handles and main body left black marks too, until I gave the whole thing a good wash and scrub with soap and water to rub off the outer coating. They still look black after the scrub, but they don't leave any residue on my hands or anything anymore. No stars off since it's not too much trouble to wash it, but be careful when you unwrap it . . .

Quick Review: Nice, Nice, Nice! They are definitely heavy duty and provide you with the safety of moving logs on a fire. I can move the largest pieces without bend or flex to the tongs. Some posters mentioned a black residue on the tongs (probably from manufacturing process) however mine arrived completely free of any. I like them so much I bought two...one for home and one for RV. Well worth the money!!! Recommended!

Awesome unit. It's great to move those buning logs around so the fire burns evenly. If you have a fire pit this is a great tool to have
