My husband loves these. They look great on the shelf in my library. They're fun to turn on when he's done. They don't take him long to do, so they're pretty simple. They look very nice on display.

Great intricate detail. Very small screws and gears. Fine motor skills needed. Dont over torque!!! Satisfying when its all put together and you press the power button. ♥️

Wow - this "Beetle" would have been incredible. Note, please, that I said "would have been" instead of "was" or "is." Why did I say it that way? Because the beginning of the construction, per the instructions, was all about the motorized base and the pieces for that were small enough to have to use tweezers, magnifying glasses, calipers and fingers that can actually pick up and manipulate screws, nails, washers and other parts that are just a few millimeters in length and even less in diameter. Add to that miniature tools that were missing from the bag of parts (there are 8 bags of parts, one of which has multiple sub-bags) they were supposed to be in or not included at all (I was not about to open different bags than the bag the tools were supposed to be in because I didn't want even more tiny pieces on the desktop that weren't going to be used for an indeterminate length of time) and I realized that building this model was not in my wheelhouse. I've included pictures of the contents of the sub-bags mentioned above representing the smaller parts needed to complete the mechanized base. This model is definitely for much younger hands than mine and by someone with more patience than I am able to muster. Sadly, although the description of this model claimed it would take 3 hours to build it took almost the entire 3 hours for me to pickup and maneuver those tiny parts and I finally just gave up in a fit of frustration. Having said all that let me say that the model itself looks to be a great example of steampunk mechanics and I am going to put it aside for when my son and grandchildren are here in the hope that they will want to build it. I think that for them it will be a fun project with an interesting finished product. So, although for adults at my age the rating would be very poor I am, in good faith, going to rate it based on what it can be for more nimble fingers and I therefore give it a solid 4 star rating. While the product is better than average it is not an excellent product. I would probably buy this product. 5 stars. Enough above average that it exceeds my expectations of how the product would and should perform. A product getting this rating is highly recommended. The Robotime kits totally rule. Easy to assemble. Beautiful parts. Intuitive Guide. Cool as can be.

My 13 year old son loved this bettle so much. He spent a few hours after school putting it together. And hours and hours explaining it to me.

This is my review of the Robotime MI03 Mechanical Beetle Model. The first thing to mention is that the title and description are a bit confusing. First, this is a Stag beetle (as stated on the box in their picture) but the description states a Rhino beetle. It's not a problem for me but, if you are looking specifically for one and not the other it might be for you. They also call it a puzzle, which it isn't either. We have done 3D puzzles and they are simple pieces in 3D, this is a mechanical, motorized model. That said, there is a lot of thought put into this model. The instructions are VERY clear and concise. They give details on each stop on which pieces you will need to punch out and which bags you will find the necessary hardware in. You can see the details they go into in my pics. There were no steps in which I couldn't follow. They go as far as listing steps to follow for disassembling if the motorize parts don't work once you test them so that you don't have to take the entire model apart. The model is definitely not for younger builders or anyone with dexterity issues. Some parts (especially the wings) are delicate and need to be cut from the thin metal sheets they come on. In addition, most of the hardware is VERY tiny. All of the tools (except for a knife to cut the parts loose from the plastic frames) are included as is grease for the gears. The model is very cool looking once complete. The movement looks real (except for the machine gun on the rear section and the light that shows how much power your batteries have left!) and even automatically shuts off after 3 minutes so you don't have to worry about burning through your batteries accidentally. Yes, it is a difficult build, but the end product is definitely worth the effort!

This storm beetle puzzle was a bit challenging to put together as I am new to model building. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. The first step is to carefully remove the plastic pieces from each other so you are ready to assemble. The parts are pretty durable, but some of them are small and thin so take extra care and/or help a younger builder. There are a lot of small pieces and it can be tough to find the one you are looking for. It is best if you have a large area to lay everything out so that assembly goes more smoothly. It took me app. 4 - 5 hours as a casual builder who is new to 3D puzzles/models. The moving wings and light-up sections are so incredibly cool and made all the effort worth it! I feel like this is more of a model than a 3D puzzle. It is really cool to put together and I love the steampunk vibe. Most of the pieces are made of plastic, but there are a few with metal and leather embellishments for those special finishing touches. This kit would be a great gift for a puzzle enthusiast and is a good starter 3D puzzle or model kit due to the clear, easy-to-follow instructions. You can proudly display the finished product when you are done and I get a lot of compliments on mine!
