GRADE 3/AGES 8โ9: This workbook features math practice and activities for first and second grade students based on the Singapore Math method; designed to help students master word problems. INCLUDES: Each unit has learning objectives, which clearly define the skills to be learned in that section, and an answer key with worked out solutions that help students see how to work the problems. WHY SINGAPORE MATH: Many students struggle with word problems. To help overcome this struggle, these workbooks focus on diagrams, number bonds, the "counting on" method, and the "crossing out" method to help students master challenging word problems as well as exercise mental calculation. NOT OVERWHELMING: Features one problem per page and step-by-step solutions in the answer key. HOMESCHOOL FRIENDLY: Perfect as a supplement to classroom work or as a homeschool resource, this series will boost confidence in problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Review: Nice selection of word problems. - I don't understand the other reviews. It says quite clearly that the book is made of 70 problems, so what is the problem? Whether they are spread over 400 pages or concentrated over 20 is immaterial. Personally I like the use of the space. In addition the problems are grouped in chunks of similar problems. Some "topics" are more difficult than others, but none are overly difficult, so they should all be solved with a bit of thinking without spending too much time on them. Review: The book looks o k, but... - The book looks o k, but, having had a quick browse through, I did notice that some of the questions HAD been answered by the previous owner. I have only checked 1 or 2 though. I will erase any of the markings/calculations without checking the other questions that have any of these on. Despite this, the book seems fine. Thanks.

Look beyond 1 question per page....itโs better than first impressions give
When i first opened this book I thought likenother people, oh only 1 question per page, that do any seem good use of space. But then I realised itโs more about getting the children to develop different strategies to show ways to solve the problem, not just finding an answer. In the back are model pages that show 3 or 4 ways of solving the problem- which you can use to model with children. I tried it out yesterday and it was really great.

um... the pages are mostly blank?
What a swizz!! ONE QUESTION at the top of each page, the rest of the page is completely blank!!! Very interesting explanation at the beginning, about the principles of Singapore Math.

I love these math books
I love these math books, my daughter really learned a lot, you just have to read all the instructions at the beginning to really understand how the questions are supposed to be answered. When my daughter follows this system she gets the answers right most of the time, when she doesn't she always gets them wrong. Really like this book.

Apt for grade 2
The content is very good but not for grade 3. Maybe early grade 2.

Great Book/ Tool
Very Good Product. Starts out with easy word problems and they gradually become more difficult. Solutions with illustrations in the back. As a retired teacher, I liked the solutions illustrations feature because different methods are used today and it helped me explain some of them to my grandson.

Great material for word problems
Simple word problems for kids to get extra practice around additions and subtractions. It helps build confidence in kids as they solve through these getting the extra practice they need outside of school work
