Enjoyable move with enough action to keep it interesting
While the critics panned this one. I found it to be very enjoyable. Now... you will like it more if you (like me) are familiar with the old mid-1980's-early 2000's cartoons and comic books. I liked this installment because of the addition of the beasts. It gave it a more interesting flavor rather than seeing all trucks, cars, motorcycles, planes, helicopters (or anything else with a motor and wheels) transform. There was a "historical element" to this movie that made it more interesting than just a bad guy/thing from another planet/universe out to destroy humans and earth. This one to me, is a good "movie night" flick. Not to be taken tooo seriously but to be thoroughly enjoyed. So for those nit-picky folks who tried to take each section of the movie apart and make some sense out of every aspect of the movie... just Chill and Enjoy a good ride!

Transformers 6: Beast Wars
After the Bumblebee movie renewed my faith in the live-action Transformers series, I was really psyched for the next one to come out. I was surprised that the new movie was going to incorporate a lot from the Beast Wars side of the franchise, where instead of cars and planes they transformed into animals. Now I didn't watch a lot of the Beast Wars cartoon back when I was a little kid, but I did have a lot of their toys. So after watching it, I thought that the movie was pretty good! It kind of takes a lot of queues from the previous Michael Bay movies than Bumblebee did, but done in a good way with likeable characters, no racist stereotypes, and that it wasn't entirely The Human Show with special stars The Transformers. The acting was good, and it was great hearing Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime again, plus casting Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal was genius. I was originally hesitant about Pete Davidson as Mirage, nothing against the guy but he's not really one of my favorite SNL cast members, but the character eventually grew on me as the movie went on. The CGI effects look great, especially given the ones for the original Beast Wars cartoon haven't aged well. I love the robot designs, which was never really a problem for me before in the Bayformers movies unlike for a bunch of G1 purist crybabies, however I don't like what they did to my boy Wheeljack who looks nothing like he did in the opening to the Bumblebee movie. I know that he was different in Dark of the Moon, but since he was named Que in that movie for some reason and I was unaware of how awesome the character was before, I decided to think of him as that character instead of Wheeljack. But this is a direct continuation to Bumblebee and is supposed to be a reboot to the live-action series, so why couldn't this have been a different Transformer like Percepter? So I guess I'll go with everyone else and refer to this version as Pablo. I was worried that the Maximals wouldn't get much screen time in this movie like the Dinobots did in Age of Extinction, but thankfully Airrazor was introduced to the Autobots early so they wouldn't be entirely left out. I was disappointed that other Maximals like Rattrap, Tigatron, or Dinobot (who is a character unaffiliated with THE Dinobots) wasn't in the movie, nor were any of the Predacons except for a legion of Scorponoks that were really just mindless footsoldiers for Unicron and the Terrorcons. I mean Scourge was a cool enough villain, but it would've been awesome seeing Prime fight a version of Megatron who transforms into a T. Rex. I'm also disappointed that they cut out a scene at the beginning where Prime fights a Decepticon named Transit because apparently test screenings thought it was too dark for this movie. I saw an unfinished version of the scene on YouTube and I thought it wasn't that bad, especially since I think Transit's death was a lot tamer than Scourge's. Speaking of which, it would've been even more awesome and also cathartic if both Prime and Primal took down Scourge together with Noah's help given what Scourge did to the Maximal homeworld and because he's supposed to be this super powerful threat. Also it's pretty convenient that there were three tasks perfectly suitable for the human characters to do, especially trying to shut down an alien device that'll open up portal for Unicron to devour Earth. Overall this movie was pretty good and a great chapter in this rebooted Transformers films series. It's not perfect and has a lot of missed opportunities, but it's obviously made by people who love and respect this franchise unlike Michael Bay. I don't want to give away the surprise ending, but we might be seeing some crossovers in the future.

Disappointing
Like many recent movies, plot was almost okay, even good actors, but the script was so boring I had to fast forward through all the slow moving and pointless, unnecessary dialogue. No story telling abilities. Is it the writers fault? I'm not sure. This production sounded like a single 30 minute cartoon episode. The mountain chase down hill fight, then where mirage turns into a suit, and then the end where the kid meets GIJ.. without those three scenes the movie is a complete bomb. I can't quite place it, but in layman's terms, it was totally boring, and felt like a first draft read of the scripts... with what you are getting paid to do your job, it was sad. Who ever was in charge of the acting scenes we are gonna call you "one take Jake" because you could have pulled way more out of them to make the scenes feel believable. It felt like they were reading from teleprompters. No real connection to the characters were developed. It's like ten dollars was spent "trying" to develop a connection with the brothers. Yep, it's the writers fault and you should have all known that when going over the scripts. Way before wasting money in production. I thought the mom was the one working in the museum. You did nothing developing the museum girl. You should all be fired. A lot of great CGI wasted. I am just glad that I didn't go to the theatre. $5.99 rental was overpaying.

Good movie- well done - in light of how it's "retro" or a background movie to the Transformers series

This review is for the movie and the 4K disc (Rise of the beasts) PLOT... During the '90s, a new faction of Transformers - the Maximals - join the Autobots as allies in the battle for Earth. Yet again another awesome Transformers movie, I'm a big fan of them all but rise of the beasts is the best yet, it still has its cheesy moments here and there but at the end of the day it gives you what you want and that's plenty action and generation one looking giant robots battling it out for earth once again! The Autobots and the Maximals both look amazing, the visual effects in the movie are top notch, great to see the epic Unicron return in his proper form and scale, which we've not seen since the animated movie, Shame we didn't see more of him though. Still plenty good entertainment to be had with plenty action, the human cast could be better most of the time but is ok and is necessary I guess for live action, the soundtrack is good and we even get a whiff of the original composed Unicron theme. Fun for all ages to enjoy and one of the most exciting summer blockbusters of 2023. The 4K Blu-ray picture looks great (also includes standard Blu-ray) Features are decent with deleted scenes and plenty featurettes (85mins total) Region FREE discs. Running time 127mins. 2023. English language movie, English subtitles plus multiple other language and subtitle options. The 4K steelbook looks very nice with cool unique art front and back.
