I don't know what the negative reviews are about. Maybe people don't read the directions and don't leave it upright for 2 hours before installing and running it. Maybe they aren't installing it correctly. I don't know. This thing works amazingly well for us. We love it. It absolutely CRANKS! It's been near and/or over 100° here in SE Texas for the last month. I installed this in our living room, and can't even run it on high for very long or my wife grabs a blanket. 😅 This *is* in addition to our central AC, but still, it rocks. I will say this, ours was transported on it's side by Amazon, and I was worried it would cause a problem. But I left it upright for 2 hours before installing it, and not a single problem so far. As far as people claiming it is loud, I don't think they take into consideration how much cold air is being blown into the room on the high setting. I guess I'd say leave it on low if you're worried about hearing it. It isn't loud enough to disturb us at all. We also love the smart Wi-Fi feature, so we can turn it on with our cell phones before we get home. It also sits very low on the window sill. Installation was a piece of cake with 2 people. I don't think it took more than 15 minutes to set it up. We feel like this 12,200 BTU unit is an amazing product for the price.

I hope reading this review, and others that report the same problems, will save you the time and energy in buying and having to return this junk. Be warned, this air conditioner is 85 pounds, 30+ more lbs than any other AC I see on the market, and an unwieldy shape. You'll strain yourself getting it out of the box, into the window, and then BACK into the box when you inevitably have to return it. So where do I even start? I've attached a video. There are so many things that rattle on this unit, it's hard to even know where it's all coming from. At one point I wedged an Allen wrench in between two of the vibrating panels, which did reduce the noise a little bit, but that didn't stop the other numerous things from rattling. It's hard on video to demonstrate just how loud this thing was from vibrating parts and the different harmonics. Think "tattoo gun" if it were revved to the sound of a loud vacuum cleaner. And then imagine your whole house pulsing with low vibrations, sort of like if a diesel truck parked outside your bedroom on idle. But I liked the design and figured ok, this must just be a lemon and the next one will work. It can't be DESIGNED this way! Yet the second replacement unit arrived and it was ALSO defective, but in somewhat different ways. This unit, too, made excessive vibrating noise, but now a different noise from a different part of the interior. And while the first unit actually worked to produce cold air, the second unit on "high" barely pushed out any air at all. I wish I could take you to actually feel and see the difference between this and the Midea unit I purchased to replace it. Installed in the same room at the same time (different windows), the Midea put out - I'm not kidding you - 10x more cold air, at probably 5x less noise. What you have to understand is just how heavy and unwieldy this unit is and the amount of effort it will take to install a defective, poorly designed product, and ask yourself, is it worth the risk when it is also the most expensive window unit on the market? Don't let the high price fool you into thinking that translates into quality. The level of incompetence of this company is hard to comprehend. If I wanted to talk actual good design details, like if this thing worked at all in the first place, I would then mention other things. Like the terrible daisy shaped spin nobs that are supposed to push up against your house, when literally any other idea would have worked better. Or like how in 2025, SpaceX can catch a pencil shaped, skyscaper sized rocket falling vertically from outer space, but GE can't figure out to pack foam into a cardboard box. It arrives crimped and it will not seal around your windows. So just think about that. When I cleaned out my grandfather's house in the mid 2000s he had a GE fridge in his basement from the 1950s, if not the 1940s. Still running, no problems. 75 years later GE makes products infinitely worse. "Planned obsolescence", where companies deliberately make garbage because they think you're too stupid to notice. I emailed their customer support. They were unable to make this situation right. But they did offer me discounts on FUTURE purchases of their garbage products. It's like that time on the Simpson's when Homer gets food poisoning from Apu's health code violating hot dogs. He returns to complain, and Apu offers him more of the same tainted hot dogs. You can guess the next scene. So can I. GE customer service thinks I'm stupid like Homer Simpson. I told them if they didn't make this right, I'd write a comprehensive review and cost them a lot more money. They've already lost over $1000 sending me junk AC units, not to mention my business for the rest of my life. But they chose the latter option: "We won't take responsibility for ourselves". This is how a dinosaur company that sells garbage thinks. They don't care. And that's why they'll be out of business, like many dinosaur companies, as soon as startups replace them. Midea is a good example of this. I would have never bought GE but Midea was on a manufacturing hiatus earlier this summer because of a recall. But they fixed it. They reimbursed me almost in full for my prior Midea unit as well. And so I bought a new one. Side by side, the Midea was like a Mercedes, and the GE was like a rusted out 1985 Ford pickup with a rusted muffler. Except the GE costs and weighs 50% more. If you still want to buy this unit and take a gamble on what is clearly nonexistent quality control, that's your informed choice. On a positive note, Amazon customer service was swift and exceptional, like surprisingly so. They sent someone out to drop off this excessively heavy unit, and then to pick the junk unit up. And then they did it all again. I just wish there were people at Amazon to vet their products and not sell garbage. That would be an Amazon that would be next level, the real Amazon Prime I'd want. But for now, I'm glad they eat the cost of the junk they sell. At least they take responsibility to that extent.

Received and installed: Installation took about an hour and a half but I did it alone. Being very careful when carrying it etc. Manufacturer recommends 2 hours of letting it sit after installation in order for the compressor oil settle, although most people online say 8-24 hours. You’ll definitely need a level, screwdriver, knife to cut foam or large scissors, measuring tape. The pros so far: I have a window still! I can look outside without it blocking the view. Installation wasn’t bad just take your time with the measurements of the window sizing and cutting foam pieces. It cools very quickly and it has a beast of a fan. Cons so far: There is a small issue with vibration, that being said I think if you apply some rubber stick on pads to the exterior mounting screws it’ll remove a lot of that extra vibration. The vibration only occurs when the compressor kicks on, then as it slows down it vibrates less. The fan inside is very quiet on lower speeds. There is a water pump that pumps the condensation outside. The few times it kicks in is pretty loud, so if you’re extremely sensitive to noises this unit might not be for you. But compared to regular box window AC units this is definitely quieter overall. — Overall: It seems well built and the components feel of good quality, will have to report back as time goes on as far as longevity and quality. When I have to take it out for storage during winter it says to empty the water so that it doesn’t freeze. The foam pieces do come off easily for storage and re-use but you have to cut them accordingly. Clean the filter screens regularly, this unit has two filters front and back. I would also empty the water from the front when cleaning filters to avoid stagnating water and potentially mold. FYI: If you end up having to move the unit to another window you’ll have to order a $50 kit from GE with the foam so that you can cut to size again. I’m happy with the purchase because the biggest thing for me is how well it cools and that the window remains visible.

I can't review the performance of the unit as I have not yet been able to install it. I purchased this on 4.3 and went to install it a few weeks later because the weather didn't required it yet (huge mistake). I was able to remove 3/4 of the chaseway screws to extend it to fit over my windowsill. The head of the 4th screw stripped on the first turn. I had to dremel a slot into the head to get it out. The stem of the screw was bent at about a 35 degree angle because the holes don't line up, and the screw was jammed in there at the factory anyway. At this point I'm ready to return it, but I'm out of my 30 day Amazon window, so I contact GE. They were no help. They don't even service this model. I could file a warranty claim and ship it back for a voucher to purchase another GE product. I can't even lift this thing off the floor, much less carry it out to my car and into a store to return it, so I decide to stick it out. I finally get this thing apart and adjusted the chaseway to the required depth just to find out those holes don't line up either. I had to clamp the two sliding pieces together top to bottom to get them to line up just enough that the screws would go in. Due to the size, weight and awkwardness of the unit I had to wait to install until someone could come over to help, and now I see that the side panel brackets are missing (the piece that holds the block that covers the open window area). I've contacted GE for replacement parts that should be covered under warranty. As of right now, I don't have much faith in this air conditioner due to the shoddy manufacturing and lack of quality control. I will update if/when they respond, and if I ever get this thing installed so I can use it. **UPDATE** I was finally able to install the unit around mid-end of June, and I'm pretty sure it died today. It randomly shut off after I got home from work, so I checked the drainage port. It didn't appear clogged, but there was a bit of debris so I rinsed it out. When I went to put it back, the AC had already kicked on. It kicked back off about 2 minutes after I replaced the drain plug. Now it only runs when the drain is open, so I'm guessing the pump has failed, but since cycling it back on about an hour ago, the compressor still has not kicked on. There are no error codes anywhere, and the filter is clean. Speaking of the compressor, when it does kick on, it literally vibrates my entire house. I have it in a front window on the left side of the house, which is a 22' wall. You can feel the vibration on the opposite end of the wall. The vibration and pump are so loud, it defeats the purpose of the U shape. This has been an absolute headache and waste of money, and I will never buy another GE product again.

I like this AC unit overall. It's not ugly and doesn't block the window like a normal window unit does, which is a big plus. The included install kit is very nice, and comes with plenty of foam and gasket material to block the gap on the sides. It's well insulated and could stay in all year without drafts etc. Installation was easy for the most part. It's just little different than a normal unit, with a few specific needs depending on the window construction. I was actually able to do it myself but I wouldn't recommend it. It is for the most part very quiet. The only issue is when the compressor cycles slower to save power, it vibrates a lot, resonantes and make a rumbling noise. I had to experiment with cardboard and foam so that it wouldn't rattle against the window sill. The only big negative is that eco mode doesn't work. This appears to be a bug with these units but not a deal breaker for me. It will come down to temperature only once, but will never come back on when the room gets warm again. Today the room temp got 10F higher over the course of 6 hours and it still didn't cycle back on a single time, even just to sample the room air which is what should normally happen. Still, it's not a huge problem in my opinion. I'm still happy with the purchase

I spent a lot on this unit because I wanted an inverter and the saddle style so I can see out the only window in room. Arrived on time and delivered to second floor by Amazon, awesome! Upon install the levelers got caught under outside sill and were not accessible nor could I lift unit back inside. Not a good design especially for third floor. After resolving that issue and powering up I was impressed. Until it idled down under low load and the compressor shook so bad the wall was shaking. Don't recommend for bedroom applications. I have run this unit under all settings and conditions and it works great on medium or high fan under hot conditions but it vibrates badly on low fan, eco, auto, and lower loads, like 75 degrees and 90% humidity. Note that the rattling copper pipe in video, condenser fan, and water slinging noise is not heard inside, only low frequency vibration. Dual compressors like LG and saddle ac units are the future and packaged mini splits are coming soon. This unit works well, is quiet and uses way less power than my old one but it's not there yet. Update: I returned this unit and replaced with a "dual" type which works great. Vibration intolerable, outside noise intolerable, temperature control not good, i think due to vertical discharge, constantly having to adjust temp. It also idle hunts, pulsating at low speeds, and randomly goes to full speed for no reason under light load. Amazon is awesome, picked up my return and refunded promptly. Life is good!

We live in the mountains of NC and we do need AC when the summer heat is on. Our older style window AC units just couldn't keep up, and were very noisy. It was difficult to sleep with the bedroom AC on. I bought the smaller GE Profile ClearView Inverter Window Air Conditioner Unit for my upstairs bedroom. I am so impressed with the efficiency of this unit. Quickly cools down the room as well as whisper quiet for sleeping, I knew that I needed to buy this same kind but a larger model for downstairs. This cools the entire downstairs area (Our house is small but older type AC units just weren't cutting it.) Quiet, quick cooling, and energy efficient. The GE APP makes it easy to set up schedules to change temps and modes for our needs via WIFI The double hung window downstairs that I wanted to install the unit in was a bit too tight to allow the install. A quick chat with AI helped me figure out how to easily remove the stops on the window and presto! I was able to raise the window up and make the install without prying. I was able to install the unit without issue. All weather seals were provided and easy to install. I am very happy these units!

I purchased three GE Profile ClearView Air Conditioner units to replace my recalled Midea U-Shaped Air Conditioner. I needed ACs immediately and could not wait for Midea’s replacement process, so I decided to try the GE units instead. Unfortunately, I regret the purchase. The GE units cool adequately, but they are nowhere near as effective as the Midea units they replaced. My old Midea could cool almost my entire floor, including the bedroom. The GE only cools the bedroom itself. Performance-wise, it’s a noticeable downgrade. The biggest issue is reliability. Two of the three units still worked, but one failed immediately after reinstalling it for the second season. Hopefully, the other two continue to work and get us through this summer. It only ran for about two months last summer. This week, after reinstalling it, I started getting a P1 error code. After researching online, it appears this is a very common problem with these units. I drained the unit as part of normal maintenance, which these ACs require far more often than expected. The P1 code cleared and the AC started working again — but only temporarily. About 45 minutes later, the tray filled with water again, the AC shut down, and the P1 code returned. This cycle keeps repeating. It appears to be a drain pump issue or drainage design flaw. Trying to get warranty support has been equally frustrating. The warranty website only allows me to schedule a service appointment with a mandatory $129 trip fee, which I refuse to pay for a nearly new unit that appears to have a known defect. I also could not get a live person on the phone. Other downsides: * The drain system requires frequent emptying and maintenance * These units are extremely heavy * Installation is difficult and awkward * They stick out from the wall far more than expected and are honestly an eyesore * The name “Profile” made me think they were low-profile units when purchasing online — clearly not the case * Storage is a nightmare because they are so deep and heavy Overall, I expected much better from a premium-priced product. Between the cooling performance, recurring P1 issues, maintenance requirements, poor support experience, and bulky design, I would not purchase these again.

Unit was very attractive and original noise was as advertised. However shortly after completing installation compressor developed a noisy rattle that was twice as loud as the actual fan unit which overshadowed the inside section. Was disappointed that this occurred as original view was very positive. Hopefully this was just a problem with one unit.
