Great knifes have a older one needed a new one.Knif emuct be closed to use cut away (top part of knife when closed).very sharp right out of the box.To open on top of knife push the the BLACK fornt peace down then push gold side button forward knife opens.You might have to pull blade down to open as its still new.To close just to the reverse.No holder came with this one.Price is real good.BEWARE of FAKES. :UPDATE:11/01/2025 blade dose not lock in place when open may cut person,Passed amazon time to send back had to write SOG for it to be fitted. Just got off the phone with SOG in Texas. They’re making me pay to ship it all the way back to get a new knife. They do not do refunds cause I bought it from Amazon. Amazon would not do nothing for me because it’s past the time so now I’m having to pay. I don’t know how much to ship it back and get a new knife. That means I’m having to spend more money on a knife. I could’ve got from them directly only buy from sog.com.

Well, first off, I ordered this on Saturday, and it was here on Monday, which blew me away. Secondly, you'll want to leave the belt clip on the side of the knife on which it comes. After switching my clip to the other side, I quickly learned why they put it on the side it came on. I was trying and trying to push the knife via clip into my front pocket, and it just would not go. I thought the clip was too tight, but that was not the problem. Suddenly, my pocket had a 6 inch cut down the side, and I realized that the belt cutter slot was getting caught on my pants pocket instead of the clip. So, I ruined a pair of my shorts. My fault, but I wish they had not made it where you could switch sides now. Anyway, the knife is excellent. Super sharp, assisted opening works well, and the lock up and lock itself are super tight. I really like the red on black color scheme as well, and the built-in belt cutter is really slick the way they built it into the handle using the blade of the knife instead of a separate razor blade in the handle. One last thing...do NOT forget to lock the blade shut when you close the knife. I forgot once and was messing around with it and the blade lifted slightly out of the handle and stabbed me in the thumb. It's quite sharp.

Great knife. They weren’t lying about the high texture. Gets stuck on any synthetic pant or shorts. No issues on thick cloth, like jean or duck material.

If military personnel love this knife it says something. It’s sharp and durable. It also has many other functions on it that are useful. I always carry just in case I need it.

Like the locking system. Blade stays sharp for a significant time. Grip texture is very aggressive. It feels like it sticking to my clothing. Cool seat belt cutter design.

In my opinion, dollar for dollar, this is the best pocket folder one can own. I have worn many hats in my life from Marine, heavy facilities maintenance journeyman and deputy sheriff on the largest S.O. in the nation. Working knives were always a part of my everyday gear. In fact, they still are. Gerber, Case and old Remmington knives are fine knives for your money. I have a few Gerber, Case , Buck and Remmington knives. But my choice is SOG knives as they take the abuse and hard core use I put them through. They hold an edge in spite of me doing tasks that would easily dull lesser knives. I have bought seven SOG Tridents, 5 for gifts, one I lost and the one in my pocket. It still is sharp and as study when I bought it( I have sharpened it a few times. Other than my KaBar fighting knife, that I alway carry in my war-bag, the SOG Trident is my favorite knife. I go for pure function over fashion. I don't need an overpriced Benchmade when my Trident is a proven working knife at 1/3 the cost.

Very sharp out of the box and has a solid feel. There’s no play in the blade and when it’s locked it’s locked. Has a really nice feel and fits in the hand very well. Probably the most versatile flip knife I currently own. And the assisted opening is very sensitive, just a light flick of the thumb and the blade swings open and locked which is very nice.
