Pelican 8QT Personal Cooler & Dry Box

This Pelican personal cooler is amazing! It keeps drinks and snacks cold for hours and feels extremely durable. I also love the dry storage compartment — perfect for keeping my phone, keys, and small items safe and dry. The size is great for road trips, beach days, fishing, or work lunches. I purchased this after my last lunch box finally fell apart. I read all the reviews on it and decided to pull the trigger. It's a great sturdy box, probably overkill for lunch box. I meal prep. It holds my 5 sandwiches, and a full size bag of chips with no problem. I leave the tray in and put my boiled eggs on top in a container along with my granola bars and it all closes no problem. The top of the lid, I put electrolytes, green tea, anything smaller and it closes with no issues. The biggest complaint was it would not carry a 16 oz bottle of water standing up. Correct, it wont. I knew that going into it, so why complain about it. You can lay them down if you want. I carry a 64oz stainless steel bottle so I'm not worried about it. They will stand up if you pull the tray out, but the lid will slightly push the tops of the bottle down. If it bothers you, buy the bigger one. Don't read the reviews, buy it, then complain about it. Use common sense. Like anything else, plastic can and will probably break, like the latch. If you throw it around or let it bounce around in the back of a truck, it will probably break the latch. So far, I have had no problems with mine, others have. It also fits in the fridge like my last one. Would I purchase this again. Sure.

Used it for a lunch box for an eight hour day inside (so always around 70F) and it stayed cold for about 5-6 hours. Size is good so an easy fix is probably a bigger ice pack than the one supplied

Very satisfied with my purchase. I have not tested the ice melting speed but this cooler can’t be beat for being rugged and very well built-having the full length tray for your food up top and beverages below and having a storage compartment that fits your phone on the very top. I use this cooler for work and I work construction. I don’t drink soda, but it will fit 4 16 fluid ounce water bottles on the bottom laying down. In my opinion, this cooler cannot be beat in quality at this price point. The compartment up top for your phone and belongings is a little difficult to open, not really a concern of mine because I put my phone in the beginning of the day in there and don’t take it out till the end of the day,but the latch system for the cooler itself is very easy to use. I have not used ice cubes in this cooler. I’ve used those thin ice packs for injuries and they work just fine for keeping my water cool throughout the day . In the future, I will be looking at the pelican brand for my cooler needs

I bought this cooler when it was on sale and consider a great value. Use pelican cases for long guns and hand guns, so decided it would be as excellent cooler which it has been.

I love this cooler I use it for my personal lunch box at work. And I'm super happy with this purchase I wish it had a wider interior for containers but still works great. Portable and easy to clean. Love the color and temperature retention

This is a great little cooler/lunchbox. I almost didn’t buy it based on some of the reviews having issue with the top storage compartment! Could the latching mechanism be improved? Sure. But you simply just have to press the latching button in firmly and lift up. The easiest way to open it for the first time is to face the front of the cooler away from you, reach over the top of the cooler, curl your fingers down over the lid, push on the latch back towards you and lift up. Then you can see how it works and then it is of little issue going forward. Great little cooler/lunchbox!

8qt version. Perfect lunch box. Will stay cold for two solid days with the built in cold slab and a couple of slim ice gel packs. Perfect size for fitting into a work duffel bag, solid as a rock, will last decades. Best lunch box I’ve ever had. Good volume inside even with extra cold packs. Perfect for enough food for a 12+hour work shift.

It is a money value product , good quality as expected.

Pelican have a reputation for building robust, functional products and this cooler is no exception. It's price reflects it's build quality and I was very happy when I unboxed it.

Bouncing around this earth with this brute on the end of my meat slinky for a year maybe, nice unit. One year old regular use and the wear on it is the handle doesnt hold itself upright anymore, there are a few scratches from when I was learning to drive and the label is finally starting to peel but only a corner. Cold all day, included cold pak is great. Eight cans and a half bag of ice-youre welcome. Not waterproof if tipped or used on bear defense.
