This flashlight is good. Much better than the older models that look similar. Same look but better light . The complaints about this seem to be from just not being familiar with the design. The battery goes in just like my 20 year old model. You have the option of using a large 6v battery or using the battery cartridge that holds 4 aaa batteries. They installed the battery cartridge in the flashlight with one of them not completely pushed in all the way so it doesn't get turned on accidentally during shipping. I got a rechargeable 6v lithium battery for it and it is excellent.

The lantern is an excellent purchase. During a recent winter storm, I thought we might lose power, and the old lantern we owned couldn't be found! I ordered this one; thankfully, we did not lose power, but we were prepared!

Junk. Didn’t work most of the time. Finally stopped working. Don’t recommend it.

Good flashlight. It's extremely bright and having the option to use two different battery types is a nice feature. Some reviews mention that when using the cradle with AA batteries it tends to rattle around a bit and occasionally disconnect but this is an easy fix. Just put a rubber band around it to keep the batteries from coming loose and put a small piece of foam or cardboard in the back of the light to keep the cradle secure. However, when simply using an actual 6 volt battery it fits perfectly and will last much longer than the AA's will. The light has great distance and will illuminate a large outdoor area after dark.

The battery pack was loose and the lamp came off when you pointed it upward. I disassembled it and packed the bottom of it with bubble wrap and it works great now. It’s very bright.

I have two of these lights in my garage on the walls, near the entrance doors. The ability to use AA batteries, with the supplied adapter, and larger capacity 6V batteries is a real benefit! I have not experienced any issues with the battery contacts, the AA adapter, or the switch. If you live in a dark area, need something totally waterproof, and appreciate a mechanical on/off switch to save battery life you can't go wrong with this light!

Initial thoughts review. Lots of pros -Design is robust, clean, and smooth edges. -has attachment points if you want to tie some string to make a sling/use a premade sling. -beam is nice and white/blue so it is bright to my eyes. I like the 4 bulbs and the 4 reflectors. Gives good spill and a nice wide hotspot. -flat sided so it doesn’t roll away easy. Cons -biggest issue for me personally is the way the battery unit makes contact with the led head unit. The entire flashlight angles near the head of the flashlight. This leads them to use a standalone adapter that relies on two plastic clips on both sides to keep it in place. The problem is that there is play even with everything installed. It took me 4 tries in a row to get it to turn on. On the 3rd try I was ready to say this thing is broken but on the 4th try it seemingly jiggled into the correct place and the flashlight works reliably now. I just worry when I have to replace the batteries or lose the separate adapter piece. -the sling attachment points seem like an after thought since they are very thin and small. One of the sling points on the back end ruins the flat back and is unstable if you’d like to aim the light at your ceiling for an area light. Works fine if you lean it against something though. -is fairly chunky even for floating lanterns. Is front heavy with only aa batteries and if you have smaller hands might not be comfortable after awhile. All in all not a bad lantern, lots of pros if the cons don’t bother you.
