Beautiful color & highlighting kit¡
I have been using Loreal 2 step kits for 20 years or so and love them! I have had my eye on this mahogany dark brown for years while using their blond kits, so while I am banished to my home and have no one to impress, I decided to give it a go. First round I had been bleaching my hair out in my attempt to go smoky silver that failed and the all over reddish brown looked good. It then came the highlights that I always use too much of and the highlights were bright red and way to much. Then I tried to 'banish the brassy red' and ended up bozo orange. Bought another dark brown/mahogany kit along with Loreal dark blond kit and conditioned the heck out of my hair to start over. This time I started with dark brown/mahogany all over color and dried my hair into my style. Did not use the red highlight kit from that box. Instead I then used the dark blond all over cover ... Over the brown to take a bit of the red tint out. This combo looked really pretty to me without any brassiness of the red taking over. Now which highlight kit? Used the blond one this time and used it sparingly but defined swatches throughout which came out beautiful... In my opinion at least. I almost cried as I watched the color settle in during the blow dry. I can't say I ever loved my hair color as much in that first couple days. I am a bit agoraphobic from a stroke years back and my new hair gave me the boost to get out and about a few times since the coloring adventure I went on. I do love the Loreal color/highlight kits and they are all I use.

Beautiful Color
I have dark brown hair worn gray coming in on front. I love the color. The highlight kit was super easy to use. I just used half the first application and I just did my roots again and then used the other half. Friends think I did it professionally. I was married to a hair dresser for almost 20 years so I have experience watching how it's done. I've been dying my hair since I was 18. I highly recommend.

Messy and time consuming process, starts out really red, mellows nicely.
I am of two minds on this product but overall pleased with the results. The process was a pain. The base color is a much drippier product than I'm used to working with. Kinda got it everywhere. Previous hair color I've used has been thicker and easier to work with. Left it on for the minimum time, followed all instructions and woah it was a bright red. Not as brownish as on the box. For reference, I was a natural redhead before having my hair professionally bleached out a few years ago. Since then my base color has grown in much darker, more brownish and closer to what it shown as the base color on this box, but my hair still often pulls red when coloring, even with the brownish roots and bleached ends. My hair is butt length so I'm sure there's still bleached areas in there. Even knowing that it pulls red this was a shock. I was prepared, though - I had mint green clenditioner on hand to knock back red tones because yeah, not my first box dye rodeo. I waited a day to do the highlights, also a pain in the butt. It was all kinda bright and very "dyed" looking for at least a week but eventually settled down into a pretty natural looking red, similar to my old pre-bleach days. I was getting genuine compliments on it right away. So... good final result but messy and tedious process and really needed a week of settling in to really look good and closer to a natural shade. If you have the time and patience, it's a good result. If you want quick and easy, move along, Sally. Oh, and the color is staying longer than most red dyes, gotta give it props for that.

Easy to apply with beautiful results
Amazing!!!The application was so easy. Take it from someone who's never done it. Follow the steps and instructions. The only challenge I had was with applying the highlights. However, it will get better with my next application. Loved the outcome and the look. I'm proud of myself and how easy it was to apply it.

Bright Red & Orange Color
Awful! Colors didn't come close to looking anything like what is shown on the box. My natural hair started out light brown - using this dye turned the ends nearly black and my roots bright neon red.Using the highlighter (which is just bleach and was NOT an easy process with awkward applicators) didn't do anything to the black tips but turned my roots as orange as a carrot.I looked ridiculous, like straight up redheaded stepchild/gingers-have-no-souls level of Ronald McDonald/I Love Lucy hell on top combined with some Billie Eilish style black tips.I had to keep it covered up to hide my hair from the world until I could get some different hair dye to fix this hideous and costly mistake.I ended up just buying a $5 box of plain Jane dark brown dye and now I at least look semi-normal rather than walking around with a freak show framing my face.

If you have long hair get a few boxes…
What was I thinking? to do this process you either need to be a professional or have a friend help you and if you have long hair you need more than one box and even if you get more than one box like I did they don’t give you enough of the highlighter to do your hair all over or to thoroughly saturate the highlights you do try to do… I’m giving 3 ⭐️ because the color comes out as described on box and they give you the tools you need they just don’t give you enough product so if you have thick long hair you’re going to need 3 boxes and a friend to get your desired look I’m a damn tiger 🐅
