Robust construction and cable allows flexible connection. Not as compact as a Thumb drive or card reader that you can "carry in a pocket" but the rubber feeling cover for the card reader and cable are stronger and its big enough not to lose at the bottom of a pocket of a tablet carrying sleeve. Has slots for both SD and micro SD cards. In December 2016 its one of the few available UHS-II bus interface SD and MicroSD card readers - can read and write to cards with the extra row of pins on the back. Bought one of these to try and it worked so well I have bought a second one.

Initially I was pleased with this card reader. It was fast and cards clicked in and out of the reader slots in a satisfying and positive way. Unfortunately, the assembly of the reader leaves a lot to be desired. The microSD slot in the plastic housing only approximately lines up with the internal electronics. It is quite easy to insert a card through the slot in the plastic and miss the corresponding slot in the internal PCB. I have just lost an expensive SD card into the void. As far as I can see the only way to recover my card is to break open the housing and I suspect Amazon would not be happy to replace a card reader that I have obviously broken. An unhappy customer.

Great piece of kit, very well made and worked a dream

Very useful piece of equipment very handy to have.

When I first used this item it worked reasonably well, but just a few weeks later it takes about 3 minutes just to recognise a card has been inserted. Then it takes another couple of minutes to read the contents of a small file. I've tried multiple cards which all work fine on another reader, but none work properly on this. I'd send it back if I still had the packaging, but who keeps the packaging on stuff like this? Absolute rubbish.

I went with this model as the other smaller units were too wide and could block/interfere with other USB ports. With the extended USB 3.0 cable this solves the problem. The cable is a thick gauge which means there is quality wires with appropriate shielding in place. The device tested to work very fast at USB 3.0 speeds when using UFS II SDXC cards. Only con, is that you can't use both slots at the same time, buts that's rarely the case.

Ich habe verschiedene UHS-2 Cardreader und 2 UHS-2 Speicherkarten gekauft um sie gegeneinander zu vergleichen, einmal die Transcend 64gb mit R285 und W180 sowie die teurere Sony 64gb mit R300 und W299 Speicherkarte. Vorweg: Keine Karten (bzw kein Reader) schaffen im real-Test die Angaben auf den Karten auszureizen. Getestet habe ich mit 10Gb Raw Dateien von meiner Kamera. Aus Spaß habe ich noch Benchmarks mit dem Atto246 gemacht. Dort und nur dort schafft es der Sony Cardreader die angegeben Werte der Transcend-Karte einzuhalten. Alle anderen Reader schaffen das nicht. Die Verwendeten Cardreader waren: -Transcend TS-RDF9K All-in-One 17,98 -V.TOP USB 3.0 Kartenlesegerät 18,99 -Kingston MobileLite G4 9,99 -Kingston FCR-HS4 21,28 -UGREEN USB 3.0 SD/TF Kartenleser 10,99 -Sony MRWS1 UHS-II 29,90 Zu den interessanten Fakten: UHS-2 klappt auf der Transcend Karte auf allen Readern. Allerdings nicht mit der Sony Karte, da verweigern einige Reader einfach UHS-2 und laden mit UHS-1. Was für mich ein nogo ist und direkt zurück geschickt wird. Mit Abstand die schnellste Karte/Reader Kombi ist auch die teuerste, also Sony Reader+Sony Karte. Wer ein bisschen Geld sparen möchte, dem kann ich auch noch die Trancsend Karte mit dem Sony Reader empfehlen, dann hat man nicht ganz die höchste Performance aber die ist trotzdem lange aussreichend. Überraschend ist die Performance vom V.Top Reader, an dem schafft die Transcend Karte den zweithöchsten Lesewert und sogar den höchsten Schreibwert aller Testgeräte. Bezogen sind alle werte auf die Realtests mit Raw Dateien. Allerdings kenne ich die Marke nicht, also weiß ich nicht ob man der so sehr trauen kann. Zudem kostet der Sony Cardreader jetzt nicht viel mehr - also würde ich eher den Sony kaufen. Alle anderen Testgeräte sind nur UHS-2 Mittelmaß und werden von mir nicht empfohlen. Meine Kombi besteht jetzt aus den beiden Karten und dem Sony Reader.

With so many memory-card readers on the market, a long and arduous search is needed to find one that fits one's needs at a fair price and a reputation for quality. It's sturdy, well-made, and works without a hitch (or added software). I did the work for you: If you are a serious amateur with a good D-SLR using some form of SD card (but you are NOT a super-serious amateur with a wide array of cameras or an aspiring professional!), this is the one high-quality, fairly priced item for you to buy. It handles only SD and micro SD cards, BUT importantly goes all the way to SHXC and ultra-high performance versions while also having a 3.0 USB plug. Therefore, it will be suitable for use for a long time and is still backward compatible for those using older plain SD cards or 2.0 USB computers. Buy it!
