It doesn’t come with instructions. Take your time disassembling the old shell so you know how to put it back together. It took me a little while but now that it’s all done the Gameboy looks incredible. Better than new. It comes with a full set of black and red buttons, I couldn’t decide so I ended up doing black on left and red on right. It looks a lot cooler than going with just one color. I also did an LCD screen upgrade while I was in there so the before and after here is not just from the shell. I’ve used this company in the past for rebuilding Xbox One controllers. They make good stuff.

I would love to give a full five stars, however none of the screws are labeled and the GBA SP uses a lot of screws with minor differences between them. The online instructions are *okay*, but do yourself a favor and just watch a video guide instead. That display ribbon cable is notoriously finnicky. Other than that, the shell is great! While I’m not a huge fan of this “soft plastic,” I will say that all the buttons feel pretty nice and the shell mold looks good around the “volume” and “power” labels. Overall, it’s a great value for your money. GBA SP’s are often considered the definitive method of playing GBA games on official hardware. Shells from 20+ years ago are going on the fritz, so a nice way to help preserve your system would be to invest in a replacement shell.

Beautiful shell! Installation is relatively simple, and takes roughly an hour or so depending on your skill. I really like that it comes with the screwdrivers and new buttons/d-pad as well.

This shell is awesome! Everything for great. The only thing you really have to reuse from the old shell are the hinge pins and their instructions suck for how to remove and install them. YouTube is your friend for that. Overall this feels really great and looks killer!

Very impressed with the GBA SP shell! I chose the NES style shell. It is a little darker than I expected, but I do like the color a lot. One of the best aftermarket shells available. Fits perfectly on the back of my GameBoy Slate mod by Makho. Love the soft touch material. I highly recommend this shell to anyone who is interested in modding or reshelling their old GBA SP. Awesome job, ExtremeRate! Update 2/27/2024: New Year, New GBA SP, New Mod! I did decide to purchase a new shell to mod another GBA SP. I decided to get the new Famicom-themed shell. I am very pleased with the end result. The shell has a nice soft-touch texture. The shell fits together well. Please note, that when using certain IPS kits, you do have to trim the top housing a little. This wasn’t difficult. Just make sure to follow the instructions with the LCD kit you purchase. This is still hands down, one of the best quality after-market GBA SP shells available.

Was very impressed on how well everything went together and the overall look of the finished product. Old silver case was in horrendous shape and didn't lose sleep on the OEM shell. Most definitely buy a different look for some of the others I have. Be sure to keep those old hinge pins for the display though. Different colors for the buttons as well, so mix n match to your preference
