Disney's Seabiscuit [DVD] [2003]

This is a wonderful film, based on the true story of the race horse Seabiscuit. I am not ashamed to say that I have watched this film at least 3 times and every time it has brought tears to my eyes - tears of joy for the determination of people, and horses, to overcome adversity and to recover from terrible sedbacks, and to go on to achieve the remarkable. Set around the period of the depression in the 1920's the movie relates the story of how 3 people- Seabiscuit's owner, trainer and jockey, overcame their personal losses and tragedies in pursuit of their dreams. Superbly recreated scenes which almost exactly match the original newsreel footage, and totally convincing acting from all the main players make this an entirely convincing and satisfying movie - one of my favourite films ever. You don't need to know anything much about horse racing to enjoy this film - try it - you'll love it!

I loved this film when I first saw it after it came out so I decided to pick it up off Amazon and watch it again. It's as good as I remembered it to be and even my girlfriend adored it. It's a powerful story of a 4 key players. Firstly the recluse trainer who communicates better with non compliant horses than humans. A charismatic owner who suffers a tragedy early on in the story. A jockey who has his own problems which are evident as the story progresses and finally and, most importantly, the horse himself. This is by and large a feel good film, but one done in a very gripping manner with its own share of disappointments along the way. This is a film up there with fantastic films like Shawshanks Redemption and is very definitely worth buying- you'll love every minute.

Great film

Saw film & Enjoyed very much it ,also was a true story about the horse. So bought it.

I received the dvd in a good amount of time and there was absolutely no issues with the quality of dvd received from the seller. The dvd story itself was very disappointing. In my opinion it was just a poor horse racing movie. Any kind of story was lost by the flicking back and forth in the storylines. In the attempt to make this film stand out, the producers added so much swearing, using God's name in vain, inappropriate brothel scene, kicking a goat...etc Seriously unhappy as I tried to watch this movie with the family and some of which were young. If your looking for a good family horse movie try Secretariat instead with fantastic.

Got bored half way through film and turned it of . Only for people into horse racing.

A brilliant movie about a homeless boy, millionaire and a cowboy brought together by a horse that became famous, very moving and great to watch with their combination they succeed in the race circuit. The actors are fabulous so I rated this an A grade plus for the full on entertainment that goes with the story, the problems of training and the up and downs in their journey to glory. Highly recommended as this is a great movie and worth having and watching. Now time to relax with feet up and munchies by your side. Enjoy!

I saw the last half hour of Seabiscuit on television - enough to know I had to buy the DVD, which I loved. Recently I bought a new condition Toshiba HD-DVD player, as much for it's value in upscaling DVD's as for playing some of my brother's HD-DVD's. I then decided to import ten of my favourite films on HD-DVD from Amazon - most were at ridiculously low prices. "Seabiscuit" is simply magnificent in HD-DVD. There's absolutely everything to like about this film, and with each viewing I am more impressed. In fact I can't think of any reason to rate any of the thousands of films which I like and respect higher than Seabiscuit. Tobey Maguire's flawless acting is probably one of the main keys to its success - and as one of the executive producers he deserves to be exceedingly proud. HD-DVD's slogan "the look and sound of perfect" is proven true in this disc.

This will not certainly be a 1,000 word endorsement, but i can honestly say it is one of the best movies i have seen. I think it will go down as a classic. I have been told that the New England Patriot's all watched this film. It certainly proved what can happen when people beleive in something and work as a team to prove it. THIS WAS CERTAINLY THE CASE FOR SEABISCUIT AND THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS PLEASE GET THIS FILM---YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
