Mantiz MZ-03 Saturn Pro II EGPU -Thunderbolt 3 MacOS/Windows/Intel Thunderbolt Certified External GPU with SATA3 2.5 SSD/HDD,SD,USB 3.0 Gigabit LAN Dual TB3 chip Manage GFX & Extra IO (Space Grey)

First time diving into an eGPU world and I'm so glad I went for the Mantiz!! the performance is better than expected for n external solution. I have an ssd inside to store all my games as I run Linux and windows so when I need to dual boot into windows for work but have time for a game I can simply use the linked drive to play rather than 2 copies of everything. My average transfer speed between my SSD and Linux is 215MB/s (Not megabits) and I haven't pushed the GPU yet as I'll be upgrading to a 5700xt after the new Radeon launch and prices drop lol. Windows is full plug and play with this unit, simply plug it in and give it up to 20 seconds depending on what you're doing and it'll fire up the external monitor and your ready to rock. Linux requires a log out of reboot depending on your distro and setup... I'm still new at this but technically Fedora, Ubuntu, KDE neon and Manjaro work pretty easily but once you config it boot up can be a bit faster. Hopefully TB support at a plug and play level for eGPU's makes it to the kernel soon but I works fine as is apart from a reboot. I've been in touch with Mantiz in regards to the PSU noise and after I pulled it apart we do agree that the fan "may" be a tad noisy/scratchy kind of sound but they were happily going to swap it out for me, I had already purchased a Thermaltake PSU to replace the original so I didn't take them up on the offer but they are very fast to respond on Facebook messenger so get in touch with them if you need anything or have any issues. If you're like me and tossing up between the branded but older Razer core enclosures or the Akito's... don't! This thing is very well built, faster with the 2 TB controllers and my SSD speed confirm that. Only thing I'd do if you're a quiet PC person like me is grab (as I did) 2 Noctua 120mm (1x 3 pin for PSU & 1x4 pin PWM for the enclosure) and if your GPU has zero rpm fans you're laughing as it's DEAD silent!!! That's my review, I highly recommend and if you're on the fence I can assure you it's worth the chance. (Also I had to order on Amazon US as I'm from Australia but they don't come up on the Aus Amazon for some reason... even with that the shipping was super fast and I still paid less than a Razor core in Aus so winner winner)

I use this eGPU for both my MacBook Pro and Razer Blade Stealth (Note: I read that you can only use MacBook in eGPU set ups with an AMD set up so be aware of this). I have somewhat different experiences with the two but will first just talk about the similarities. I set it up with an RX580. Installation was easy. I just opened up the enclosure, if I remember correctly, undo some secure bolts and plugged the video card in. One thing to note that another reviewer mentioned, certain cards that are on the bigger side, be very careful with removing it. The positioning is awkward and you run the risk of “scraping”. I had some issues when I had to reseat the card. Moving on, after seating the card, I just closed the enclosure and plugged in the power cable and the lightning bolt cable. Note that the lightning bolt cable it comes with is short. Like really short. Like I keep my laptop on top of the eGPU cause the cable doesn’t let me put it anywhere else short. I’ve been too cheap to buy a longer one since I use external monitors in my set up. It’s time to go a little on the differences. Both the MacBook and Razer run great on the set up. The thing that is different is the keyboard and mouse. The eGPU gives me enough power to power the keyboard mouse when I’m using the Mac. When I’m using the Razer, both keyboard and mouse constantly disconnect. I use a Razer keyboard/mouse with RGB lights so it’s easy to see how it randomly turns off/on. As a result of this issue, I simply plug the keyboard/mouse into a USB adapter directly to the laptop. I’m sure there’s something I’m missing or need to do cause there’s definitely enough wattage for the PSU to power them with my Razer, but for some reason it just acts funky and I haven’t been eager to resolve it since it’s nice to put my adapter to use. The eGPU charges both my Mac and Razer just fine and I never had any issues with it disconnecting. It does seem to have a smart feature. It seems to be off or “sleeping” when nothing is plugged in but once I plug a powered on laptop to it, it seems to “wake up” this is noticeable to me since I have video card that lights up. It’s off when the enclosure has nothing plugged in but once I plug something in it lights up. In the beginning I had issues with it sometimes not recognizing my laptop is plugged in. I would just press the on/off switch about 2-3 times and then it would be good. I did this about maybe 4 times (that is 4 sessions of me coming into the room to plug my laptop in) and now it no longer has the need for me to do this. Again, was too lazy to look into the why but this issue seems resolved now. Honesty, I recommend this baby. I’d give it the full 5 star but I hate the short cable it comes with and then there’s the issue with the keyboard mouse not getting full power with my Razer. Still, a great eGPU that I recommend.

I thought this would be a good value product for the price. The main reason I bought this product over others was because of the large amount of USB ports, SSD connection, and LAN port. However, 1 of the USB connectors is defective and the customer service not only refuses to replace the defective part reasonably, they take anywhere from 48 hours to 2 WEEKS to respond to an email. You are better off spending more money for a more reputable brand with better quality control and customer service. Product problems: 1. Top front USB port is faulty. This could be due to the port, the cable connecting the port to the USB controller card, or the controller card itself. Instead of sending in these easy to remove parts for a replacement, their customer service demands I send the entire unit to TAIWAN for it to be tested. In other words, have no product for AT LEAST 2 weeks while they test THEIR quality control defect. 2. The USB controller card is poorly designed. They have 2 different BIOS ROMs for the USB controller. 1 for good compatibility, another for full PCIe speed. You have to choose to have a full speed graphics card or finicky USB. Customer service problems: I have had so many issues setting this eGPU up and having it run without freezing and crashing that I have emailed their customer support multiple times. The first time it took over 2 days to get a response and their response assumed I was on a MAC without asking any questions. Their responses took days to weeks and their solutions did nothing to solve the multiple issues. I had to look things up myself on forums and reddit and even gave the customer service tips to give to future customers to resolve the problems. The worst suggestion they gave was to downgrade my Windows 10 and block updates. I found the solutions to fix the problems and am running the latest version of Win 10 with updates. No manual: There are no directions, just an email to a PDF file that says almost nothing helpful. Nothing to help troubleshoot. tl;dr DO NOT buy this product. Don't bother with the USB ports, SSD, or LAN port, they come at a cost. This is NOT a good value. Buy from a reputable brand with good quality control and good customer service. Buying from this brand will give you nothing but headaches and waste your time.

After about a month of using the Mantiz Saturn Pro 2 eGPU, I have to say I have been very happy with the product. Aesthetically it is a minimalist design executed in a very elegant fashion that goes with my minimalist design work environment. It allows for me to work and play very easily. I have a Latitude 7410 for work and my XPS13 for play and personal hobbies that include photoshop design, photography, and let us not forget the most important gaming! The eGPU has allowed me to live in both worlds and although the performance will never match a well-designed gaming desktop workstation, it has provided very acceptable performance with the titles I have played. I hear people complain about the supplied cable but honestly it has performed as expected (it’s just a simple Thunderbolt cable and you should educate yourself on the technology, so you are not surprised and blame the manufacturer for items working as designed). To get the full pipe of bandwidth calls for a short cable. If you go longer than specified then it is no longer a Thunderbolt and you are looking at cutting bandwidth to nearly half, a huge performance hit. My setup is using a nVidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti gpu and I am using dual display port monitors. I suggest you update to the latest drivers for both Thunderbolt and your egpu to get the best stability and performance, even though it was plug and play out of the box. The Mantiz Saturn Pro 2 provides good looks, versatility, additional ports (read the specs!), at an exceptionally good price in comparison to other units that you should be familiar with if you are shopping for an eGPU. Hope this honest perspective helps!

I find it utterly baffling that anyone bothers to make an eGPU enclosure that doesn't have, at a minimum, four USB 3.0 ports. Part of the idea is I can park my laptop on my desk, plug in a single cable to get peripherals, power, external display, a dedicated Ethernet connection and, in a case like this, additional graphics power. Yet so many of them lack USB, and the ones that have USB tend to lack Ethernet. It makes no sense to me to not incorporate an additional $10 of hardware into your design. Anyway, thankfully the Mantiz Venus MZ-02 actually DOES have just that. Heck, they even threw in a SATA port in there for extra measure in case you want to add some external storage while you're at it! Here is what I am running: -HP Spectre x360 13-ac0XX (7th-gen, Kaby Lake, Intel i7-7500U) -Windows 10 x64 Home (build 18362) -GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1650 Windforce OC 4G Graphics Card (N1650WF2OC-4GD) The whole process was as painless and straightforward as you might suspect. No bumps, nothing super weird I had to do to get it configured. Just plug and play. The design of the enclosure itself is also as nice as I can expect. Simple machined aluminum, clean look, no "extreme" or "gamer" design to it, just what you see in the pictures. The tool-less side panel is nice, pops off easily enough and sits on there nice and snug, not loose or sloppy. So far, so good. I didn't do a ton of testing, but I did check to make sure I could open up Doom and run it at my full 2560x1080 resolution with high settings. It's a big step up from running it at 1280x720 at the lowest of the low settings because yes, it actually did run on the onboard Intel HD 620 that way with little drop in framerate. Enough I could tolerate and beat the game. Now at least I'll be able to go back and beat it again but this time appreciate the graphics a little more. If anything changes with this guy and it goes out I'll be updating my review. Which reminds me, I need to go update the review to my last TB3 dock...

Works great out of the box for my MacBook Pro 15 2017 running High Sierra. I love the additional USB ports and Ethernet port that this eGPU provides. Very sturdy construction with great material that matches my MacBook Space Grey color. I love the fact that this eGPU can charge my MacBook. The provided Thunderbolt 3 cable is very short (foot and a half in length I think). For my setup, I have to buy another 6 feet Thunderbolt 3 cable, this is the additional $50 at the time of this review. The fan that comes with the unit is bit loud to me. However, despite the facts, this is, to me, by far the best eGPU that you can get for a MacBook user.

The eGPU enclosure looks and feels very very nice and high quality. I chose the Space Gray color and matches my MacBook Pro 13" perfectly! The interior is ample enough (barely) for my ASUS ROG RX 580 8GB GPU, which is the physically biggest GPU that I've ever handled. The power supply provides the required current for the card and it performs well under heavy loads. The USB ports are also a nice addition to the package and it truly is the optimal docking solution for MacBooks. Minus 1 star because of the Thunderbolt 3 cable that came with it. Unlike the enclosure, the cable feels cheap, it doesn't fit my MacBook's USB-C connectors very well and the connection is flaky. Even a little air can move the cable and it'll disconnect, most likely causing a kernel panic on macOS because the eGPU was not properly disconnected. I recommend you replace the cable with an official Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable ASAP to prevent damages to your computer or the GPU. Also, if you are on macOS remember to install the Ethernet drivers!!

edit: this thing is awful. it constantly drops video or audio. I have to repeatedly plug in/out to get it back on. Tried on two different laptops to make sure it was the eGPU. It looks great on paper but doesn't work. This thing is awesome. For this price, it's definitely the best option. I'm using it with a GPD Win Max and a Vega 64. No issues with anything working and it was pretty much plug and play. Two monitors, keyboard/mouse, headset, ethernet and sound are all hooked up to the EGPU. I only have to plug in one cord to fire everything up. My only gripe is the lack of USB ports. Only having two in the back is silly. I only need one in front (spare USB/headset) but this gives three upfront. I had to plug my mouse in front which looks bad. I also added a 3.5" Sata drive and to my surprise it actually fit. It's not designed to hold it but it does lay in there nicely.
