The (now seemingly rare) internal CD/DVD drive on my ageing PC finally gave up the ghost completely, and I opted for this external drive as a replacement. Really pleased with it. Absolute simplicity itself to set up (in that, actually, there's no set-up required at all: you just plug the integral lead into any available USB-A port on your kit), and although the lead is extremely short - such that others may legitimately find it to be too short for their own purposes - it transpired to be the perfect length for my desk top, so I have no complaints on that score. It both records and plays CDs and DVDs reliably and consistently. And it's a very reasonable price, too. All in all, I should have stopped relying on my increasingly temperamental and unreliable internal drive years ago, and purchased one of these little beauties instead. Five stars.

Very useful for reading CDs and DVDs, burnt or original. It can be powered & connected via USB-C or it has a USB-A connector that can be used. Comes with USB-A to power connecction if required which is handy. The product works well, it is fast, reasonably quiet, and I had no problem using it on my Mac without requiring any drivers. Once a disc is put in it I can see it as available. Very easy to use, fast at reading, ejects when you press the button or eject it from the OS, it is lightweight, and very compatible.

This actually feels like quite a solid drive, the case is fairly thick plastic. I just plugged it into my USB3.0 port with the cable provided and it worked just fine (Windows 10). Instructions are so small they are pretty useless! I believe you use the single cable with either the USB type A *OR* USB type C to connect to the drive. If there isn't enough power from the single cable, connect the second USB type A to the tiny power jack to increase the power. I could be wrong, that's what the instructions implied. Mine worked with just the single cable.

AS MOST NEW LAPTOPS DON'T HAVE ANY OPTICAL DRIVE, I NEEDED TO FIND AN EXTERNAL USB DVD DRIVE TO USE. I PURCHASED THIS ANTIKA USB OPTICAL DRIVE BECAUSE IT OFFERS EVERYTHING THAT I NEED AND COMES SUPPLIED WITH ALL RELEVANT CABLES, INCLUDING ONE THAT YOU CAN PLUG INTO A SUITABLE MAINS ADAPTER (NOT SUPPLIED) TO PROVIDE EXTRA POWER, ONLY REQUIRED IF YOUR LAPTOP CANNOT PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER BY JUST USING THE USB CABLE SUPPLIED. I LIKE THE FACT THAT ONE CABLE IS A USB C CONNECTION, WHICH I USE. NO ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED IN ORDER FOR THIS DRIVE TO WORK. IT WAS SET UP VERY QUICKLY AND FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY, TIU CAN USE BOTH DVD DISCS AND CD ROMS. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY AND IT LOOKS GREAT TOO! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS DRIVE.
