Is the cover actually real leather or is it faux (fake) leather as stated in bulletproof point #1?

It's faux leather but it really feels real. Not like other faux leather I have experienced

I think it would work just fine. The pages are thick enough to handle the extra ink that fountain pens put down.

Great quality heavy duty paper no bleed through

Very pleased with the quality. Really nicely made but a little stiff out of the package. I expect that as it is used it will loosen up. The pages are heavy duty and I don't see the ink bleed through several others have cited in their reviews. Perhaps it is the pen and ink I'm using as I chose to use a "check wash resistant" pigment-based gel ink pen and have not seen any ink bleed through to the back of the page. Great quality, great buy, heavy duty paper no bleed through.
