Not much of a description on this product. I assume it can be installed outdoors? Is it for low voltage only or can it be used with mains voltage?Thx

Hi, The unit can be used outdoors uncovered. It has 3 settings which are "0" which is permanently on. "A" which is automatic and uses the dusk to dawn photocell and finally "1 - 9" which is the timer function. This switches on at dusk and stays on for the duration you have set ie 1-9 hours. The unit must be connected to a 12Volt transformer which is purchased separately. Hope this helps.

I have had one of these units about three years it will not work on any of the auto settings only when I switch to manual. Is there a reset button

No I do not believe it has. I had the same problem with one about 4yrs old and ended up buying a new one.

Does this have to be used with a techmar system, can i not just wire it up myself?

I have wired it up myself & providing you have the right transformer it works ok.

Can this device be used on a 12 volt dc system?

In answer to my original question; it seems it can. The electronics of the device obviously have to have a dc supply so the 12V ac input must be rectified internally. This was my main concern as using a dc supply would mean the supply all going through one side of the rectifying circuit and did it have the power rating to do it? I've been running one of these timers on a 12V dc system for over a week now and it's functioning perfectly.
