Rust-Oleum Varathane 211729H Premium Wood Stain, Quart, Early American

We chose American Walnut to refinish our interior stair treads. We originally picked the Dark Walnut gel stain, but the stair treads were too dark and the grain of the wood was not clearly visible with the Dark Walnut. American Walnut stain looks great on our stairs! The can was well packaged, went on easily, and left a rich tone to the stair treads. I used one coat of stain and finished the treads with three coats of polyurethane high traffic. Definitely recommend for stair treads.

First time using any stain, I'm refinishing a hundred year old mirror and wanted to restore it to the deep mahogany i found under layers of green paint! This is so easy to use, the color is rich, the wood took the color with no problems. The foto is the first pass with the stain. I plan to do 4 coats, this is only the first coat. The directions are simple, let dry 2hrs between coats, wipe or brush on. I recommend using a microfiber rag for best results. Really couldn't be happier with the way the product went on and the color achieved.

Stained furniture with red cherry stain from another brand. This matched it. Easy to spread and use. Even coverage.

The product coverage is great and I prefer this over Gel stain. No streaks if using a quality brush, thin coats and a bit sanding and you are on your way hassle free. It is a little sticky if you go too thick but that is easily fixed with a medium setting on a hair dryer if it is humid etc. So thinner and more coats is the better option. Good stuff!!

Looked great for about 3 months. Then highbtraffic areas began to goop up. Disappointed. Might be great for ornamental piece, but for dinner table... doesnt last.

This is a good wood stain for at home projects, but be aware the color is much darker than the photo on the product and unfortunately lighter shades are not available

The product is excellent, but the can in which it came was so battered and dented as if it had rolled down a hill slope! Somebody treated it very badly during transportation. This did not change the quality of the product inside, so I am quite happy with the purchase.

The picture on the tin shows a light brown color, but the stain is raspberry-red. It gave pine a mahogany look. Quality is good, very low odor. Hands wash with handsoap easily.
