MESTEK Pinless Wood Moisture Meters for Non-Destructive Moisture Detection in Drywall, Wood, and Masonry, Large Color LCD and Alarm Moisture Reader Tester

I had a company tell me my fully finished basement walls had moisture and wanted to charge me over 20,000.00$ for repairs. I ordered this and tested several area and everything is dry.

If ever you have water flooding your basement and you call out a professional restoration company, its good to have this handy meter. The restoration company will take readings and tell you, but it may not be accurate. Their readings indicated they needed to come in a remove 4-feet of drywall on all walls. I bought this to read the moisture and the moisture was within 6 inches from the floor and not really wet. So always get one of these so the restoration companies don't dupe you. I am not replacing any drywall because I used fans and dehumidifier. Then I bought a Ryobi mister and sprayed Mold Control in a mist.

I ordered the “MESTEK Pinless Wood Moisture Meter Drywall Moisture Detector for Lumber Concrete Building with Backlit Color LCD Display” to review and to check moisture in firewood as well as any other suspected moisture problem areas. I already own a pin style meter but I thought it has been acting flaky the last few years. I checked readings compared to this one and they were both extremely close to each other. I guess the old one still works or it was just having a good day. This MESTEK unit is quality all around. I love the color display and the humidity and temp readings which also seem fairly accurate. I really like that it’s pinless so I can check other objects that I do not want to put pin holes into or that pins can’t be stuck into like concrete etc. This meter is Above Average and at least what you would expect based on the Product Page. Maybe a bit more. Definitely a solid product. Recommended. Explaining my rating system: 5 – Exceeded Expectations – Highly recommend product. 4 – Average to Above Average – At least what you would expect based on the Product Page. Maybe a bit more. A solid product. Recommended. 3 – Average to Below Average – A bit less than what you would expect based on the Product Page. Left feeling somewhat disappointed. Maybe you’ll feel differently but I cannot fully stand behind the product. 2 – Below Average – Incorrect, missing, or misleading information on the product page. Low quality or questionable safety issues. Not recommended. 1 – Junk – A complete misrepresentation of the product advertised, severe quality or safety issues. Avoid at all costs.

Does not measure mold. Not as described. Instructions are not clear. Results are questionable.

This is such an easy gadget to use and it works like a charm. Works on dry wall, block walls, soft wood, hard wood, you name it. Was a good investment and gave piece of mind after going through Hurricane Ian.

I ordered this because I have suspected some windows leaking. One spot is quite visible on the window ledge. I am wondering if there is damage in the drywall and don't want to have to poke a hole in there to see. I am really not sure how accurate the device is. The closer I moved it to the window along the drywall the higher the reading; however, nothing every registered as a "risk" even though I know there has to be moisture in there based on the surrounding area.

The MESTEK Pinless Wood Moisture Meter Drywall Moisture Detector is great! It does a great job looking for dampness on the walls. The look of it is nice (looks professional) and its comfortable in the hands and the price was just right! Over all a great purchase. Glad I bought it!

Had it and used it a few times and out of nowhere it was no longer accurate temp reading.
