Perfect for me! (Not for everyone.)
I love cold drinks with lots of ice, but I live in an area prone to tropical storms and flooding where "boil water" notices are frequent. So connecting an ice maker to a tap water source is ill-advised. Consequently, I was buying bags of ice at the store every week. With this unit I can use bottled water and make all the ice I want. It has been reliable so far, and has already paid for itself. I really like the bullet-shaped cubes. They melt slowly enough to keep drinks cold, yet crush more easily than large cubes or crescents when used in a blender. Although it wasn't a major factor in my purchase, I plugged the unit into an ECOFLOW portable power station and solar panel just to see how it functioned. It pulled 1.8 amps when making ice, and worked the same as it did on regular house current, confirming that I could use that setup to make ice while camping or during a power outage. Note: This is not a "set it and forget it" commercial ice maker. You fill the well with water, it makes 9 cubes about every six minutes, and dumps them into a basket (and yes, that makes some noise, of course). That basket is in an insulated compartment, but it's not refrigerated, so if you leave the ice in it as shown in the product photos, it will eventually start to melt (the water drips back into the well). With that in mind, I usually make ice while I'm a watching a game on TV or something, so I can get up and dump each batch of ice into a container in my kitchen freezer before it starts to melt (and refill the 1.2L water well if needed). After three or four hours, I have enough ice (10+ pounds) for the week. This unit was priced considerably lower when I bought it. I'm not sure I would have purchased it for the current $75 (lots of similar choices for less), but I'm glad I have it.

Works Fantasticโo
Like so many others here have mentioned, our fridgeโs ice maker is on the blink so my wife suggested this particular tabletop ice maker to fill in while ours was down. Like most probably are, I was skeptical but the price was right and Iโve now seen exactly how quickly this little dude makes ice! Iโm telling ya, this thing outperforms way beyond my expectations and will continue to be used once the dad-gum original ice maker is fixed? This thing dumps 9 small thimble shaped ice cubes about every 5-7 minutes and fills the cube holding tray about every hour or so. As plenty of others have mentioned the ice is very soft and great for crunching but if you place the cubes in gallon bags and store them in your freezer they will freeze more firmly and wonโt tend to melt so easily in your drink. If you can keep up with it throughout the day and night, it will make enough ice for at least 3-4 people. But you must empty the ice bucket tray when itโs full or it wonโt make ice no mo! Until emptied, every hour ๐ I will say that it's a bit on the noisy side and the compressor continually runs until the tray is full and shuts off. But we have it sitting in a room adjacent to our kitchen so itโs not a problem for us. I checked the specs on several other ice makers being sold but narrowed it down to the one my wife suggested? Bottom line though, if you need a lot of ice for more than four then I suggest you look at something larger but this unit, at least so far, has proven to work very well and believe you will be pleased as well! ๐ซต๐ป I read the reviews and compared this unit to several similar others but (so far) Iโm extremely pleased with this portable ice making machine

Best purchase!!
Best purchase I ever made! I did not have high hopes for this since it was so cheap. I have 5 people in my house and we all love ice in our water. My refrigerator ice maker could not keep up with all of us. I got this, game changer!! It makes ice super fast, you can select large of small. It makes the ice with the hole in the middle. It comes with a scope. The only gripe I would have is that the ice could gather and show that it is full when it is not but you just move around the ice and itโs good to go. All you do is take the collection bucket out fill water to the line and put the basket back and let it do its thing. Super easy I would recommend everyone to buy this if you are looking for a table top ice maker!!

Makes cubes fast!
I wanted something for our boat. This one is a great compact size and within a couple hours it made a lot of cubes. Keep in mind they are hollow cubes, which is the reason for the quick freeze, but great for drinks. The machine itself does not keep them cold, so when I have a batch I transfer them to a small cooler.

I would buy again
The item arrived on time and in good packaging. My wife and I decided to purchase this because the ice maker in our refrigerator always freezes up and even if we thaw it out, the water lines are still frozen and we don't get ice for about a month. So, we purchased this ice maker and have been very impressed. I thought it would take forever to make a little bit of ice but it is surprisingly fast and it fills the bin much faster than I thought it would. My only comment would be that the ice is very wet. We decided to put a plastic bin in our freezer and as the ice maker bucket fills, we would empty it into the freezer bin. The ice is so wet that when we put it in the freezer bin, it freezes all together. Not a big deal, smack it with a big spoon and they easily separate but that is about the only negative so far.

Worked great until it didn't. Lasted 3 months [UPDATED - Actually not so bad after all]
[UPDATE]: Turns out this was a case of user error (with slight caveat). Bottom line was that the ice maker stopped working in the middle of a heat wave when the ambient temperature was in excess of 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 degrees Celsius). We were on a camping trip and didn't have the user manual with us. When the temperature cooled down overnight the ice maker starting making ice again. Found the manual after returning home and the troubleshooting section clearly states the operating temperature range for this unit is 0 to 32 degrees Celsius (about 32 to 89.6 degrees Fahrenheit). So yes, our bad for not realizing it's not designed to work at that high of a temperature. The caveat is that the product page for this (or really any other) portable countertop ice maker sold on Amazon doesn't publish operating temps for the units. You'd either have to buy it and read the manual (or go find the manual online before buying it) to know that it must be operated within that range. So I'll give this a recommendation if you're using it in a climate controlled environment or "outdoors" (e.g., in a shaded screenhouse or patio) on days where the ambient temps are within the above mentioned range. I will say that once it started making ice again it never shut down after that (despite the temps being just as hot on subsequent days). Guess it just needed a little break from the heat. Upping our rating from 1 to 4 stars. Original review below is from before we discovered the operating temps described in the user manual's "troubleshooting" section: After spending almost $400 on a fancy nugget ice maker that also failed within a few months (as did the replacement they sent out) I decided to try going back to a cheap bullet ice maker since our Igloo lasted almost three years before it died. Well this one only barely made it past three months. No longer makes ice. Just makes sounds like it's trying and failing. That's it. Not much else to say. It's a cheap Chinese made piece of crap that Amazon highly recommends.

Hollow ice
It makes ice very quickly but it is very thin and hollow so will melt very quickly.

Junk, doesn't work
I used this ice maker according to the instructions. The ice melts before you can even use it! The ice is so small even on the large ice setting - see my photo. The seller offered a refund, I accepted, but they didn't give the refund and now don't reply to my messages. Don't waste your money on this item.
