I am in charge of radios for my church safety team. I worked fire/ems & law enforcement for a total of 42 years. During that time I used Motorola, GE & Johnson radios. Our safety team has Blackbox, Baofeng & Retivis radios. We're looking to get new radios, so I bought a pair of these Samcom FPCN30A to try. I must say I am really impressed, especially for the price. I purchased the programing cable & downloaded the software. It was easy to program the Samcom's to the frequencies of the other radios. They have a nice heft to them. The sound is really clear. I haven't tried to see how far I can reach, but they worked well on our campus in both buildings. I had no problem talking to the other brands of radios. The quality of the supplied headset is good. I've definitely used worse. The only problem I had was the wireless headset we use doesn't shut off the external speaker for some reason. We have 3 brands for wired headsets & they all worked fine. I looked & the plugs of the wired sets are a little thicker then the wireless. I have a Samcom wireless coming & I'll review that when it comes. I really like the GROUP Call Function. When you push the GROUP OK button, the other Samcom radios will pick up the transmission, no matter what channel they are on. The other non-Samcom radios wouldn't receive the call, if on a different channel. However, I did find if I programmed the Group call for example, channel 15, they would receive the call on channel 15, no matter what channel the Samcom is on. I like the belt clip on the radio, it seems sturdy. On our old radios, I have bent & broken the flimsy belt clips. The antenna's on the Samcom is the same length as the radios I used as a first responder. Some of the guys complained they were too long. Samcom has other lengths available. The antennas from our other radios fit & seemed to work fine. My only real complaint is that if you use the scan function, you have to scan all 20 channels. There's no way to lock out channels, even when using the programing. The radios are simple to use. You don't have to use any buttons on the front for basic functions. Even using the buttons on the front is simple. You can use the lock function to lock not only the buttons, but also the channel, so no accidentally changing channels, which happens to some people. All in all, I really like these radios. I highly recommend them. They are excellent radios for the money.

I’m part of a photography adventure group. As such we tend to go off on our own in remote areas to find the best shots. But we still want to stay connected. That’s where our SAMCOM FPCN30A come in to play. It has features like the Group Call button that regardless of what different channels your group might be on, they’ll all hear a call from a Group Call. That’s amazingly helpful. The units are solid, and so easy to use. It also has a scramble function that helps keep your conversations limited to your intended recipient(s). This is a feature found only on radios that often cost many more hundreds of dollars. Clarity is very good for extended distances, depending on your terrain. Other easy functions include low or high power, sub-audible or digital code and more. These radios work well for large groups like ours where we have adventurers off on their own or on a team where everyone has their own channel (up to 19 channels). This looking for a well made, strong signal, 2 way radios that perform under tough conditions at a very affordable price should feel comfortable purchasing these radios.

Purchased a set and have used it during camping and hunting trips. No issues with range, audio quality and battery life. It works well in the woods at long distances (tested it with up to ~1.5 miles). Battery was at ~75% after 5 hours of active usage. Had an issue with a one of headsets (it was always broadcasting, even if the talk button was not pressed). But contacted support, has received two of them as a replacement.

I bought these because I'm in a driving club and members use 2-way radios with STANDARD channels to communicate during drives. Be advised, these radios are not pre-programmed to communicate on STANDARD channel frequencies. Hence the ding down to 4 stars. if your plan is to buy a bunch of these radios to hand them out to a controlled group of people then this channel/frequency issue isn't going to be an problem. If your group has radios from various manufacturers then you will likely have to program the radio. Exacerbating this problem is that programming the radio requires connecting the radio to a computer with a USB cable that isn't included. I've ordered the USB cable and have yet to use the radio for it's intended function. But the radios feel solid and well made. So I'll give it the benefit of doubt that it will perform well. If performance isn't so great I'll be back to edit this review.

First, we use these in a semi long range capacity and they work very well. No squelching, no static. Second, about nine months in we began to have charging issues. First on one unit then on the second unit. Long story short, we contacted SAMCOM via email for a resolution to the issue. I was amazed how quickly a return email was received. We answered a series of questions and sent them off. The resolution was immediate in helping us get a quick resolution to our satisfaction. In the meantime, however, we found the issue was our electrical outlet. When we moved the units elsewhere a full charge was achieved. We let SAMCOM know. They were very gracious and happy the issue is now resolved. I just wanted to report this because it seems dicey these days as to whether a company will stand behind their product. And SAMCON certainly did! Just great customer service!
