Really impressed with this air-con unit. I saw it was the top of the Which? recommended ones and had to have it. The controls and remote are easy to use and it's powerful enough to cool our large main bedroom. Just yesterday it was 27 degrees in our room and it cooled all the way down to 18 in less than an hour. The noise level is pretty good - at first I thought it was quite loud, but having heard other brands for comparison, it's certainly the best out there for the moment - it's so useful to have the lower fan speed for night-time. Would fully recommend!

I thought I'd leave a review for this as most of the reviews here are for the larger model. I bought the smaller one, Classic Compact. It's certainly compact, very small compared to a larger De'Longhi unit I owned in the past. It also puts out less cooling, but that is to be expected as it's smaller and less powerful. I ordered this unit during a recent heatwave, and just my luck it arrived the day it ended! However, my flat is a heatsink so despite is being now low 20s outside the flat was still 26 degrees. The DeLonghi Compact Classic soon sorted this, and within 30 minutes the room (around 20sqm) was sitting at 21 degrees. I think the unit would struggle with a larger room. I don't know where the 60sqm is coming from as I'd be very surprised if it could manage that. Perhaps in a perfectly sealed room under ideal conditions. But in the real world? Nah. Even having my lounge door open into the hallway significantly reduced the cooling ability of the unit. But you need to be realistic. The specs of this unit are nearer the "cheap" no-name ACs rather than the Classics bigger brothers. I'm happy that it cools a single room down. it does what I expected. There's no window kit that comes with this model. You get a hose and an attachment to poke out the window, but no panel for sliding windows. I have push-out casement windows which are common in the UK, so used the supplied attachments which do mean your window is slightly open during use. There are 3rd party attachments which you can buy to narrow the ducting further, creating quite a thin long shape to the end of the hose, meaning the window would only need to be open a couple of centimetres. This should improve the cooling efficiently. The unit is quite loud, but well within its specifications. I measured the noise level to be 52db with the low fan settings, 59db with the high fan setting and 62db with the compressor active along with high fan. It's unlikely that you would want to run a >50db unit during the night. But the sound levels are clearly noted in the product description. My use case is to run the unit for a few hours in the early evening to take the heat out of my (too) well-insulated flat after a hot summers day. For this the sound level is perfectly acceptable. The compressor unit does produce vibration, which creates a low level hum in the adjacent room and various other locations within the flat. I believe this is due to the units location and/or vibration from the compressor transferring to the hard floor, walls and furniture. I've invested in a thick anti-vibration mat to place the air conditioner unit on with the hope this will help. The unit was on offer at the time of purchase and I paid £367. Which is a similar price to a lot of the budget no-name models. When compared to those I think this unit was the right choice and great value for money. Edit: A few weeks on and the unit still working perfectly. I bought an anti-vibration mat (the kind used for washing machines) which sorted the hum of the compressor almost entirely. I also bought from Denlongi an insulated hose cover which I would highly recommend (make sure to get the proper one direct from Denlongi as there are quite a few knock-offs on Amazon which I expect do nothing). This hose cover not only reduces the heat expelled back into the room - increasing the performance of the air conditioner, but it also reduced the noise of the unit further. It seems a lot of the “fan” noise is actually the thin plastic between the ribs of the hose vibrating and acting almost like a speaker.

It's fustrating to see people complaining about the noise because it just means they haven't bothered to read up or research air con units. Split systems cost over £1000-1500 without even considering installation, so considering these things come in and less than a third of that, there is going to be a catch. And that catch is the noise. They do make you jump when they fire up, and they do require the hose to be draped out the window or attached to a vent in the wall if you drill one, however if you are looking for a solution to the rising heatwaves, have space to store it when not in use, and would do pretty much anything to deal with the heat then they are an absolute blessing. We move ours around the house depending on what we need it for and it can cool a pretty large space if necessary, but unless you have a very big house you are unlikely to have a room so big that this (or this + an oscilating desk fan to help with room circulation) couldn't handle. Absolutely no regrets, it is awesome. If you can't handle the noise, there is no alternative than having a full split system installed, it's that simple.

First of all I'm really glad I got this AC, I live in a concrete flat and it absorbs the heat like a storage heater, so this provides much needed respite. After about an hour the temperature drops 5-8 degrees, and the humidity about 10-20%, which makes the room comfortable to be in. I need to keep this running pretty much constantly because of the heat retention, but If your property doesn't retain heat as well then you may get better cooling and it may be able to shut off for longer periods. One very important thing to note is that if you have high humidity and/or are going to put a converter on the hose to fit it through a narrow gap in a window then you will almost certainly need to use the external drain hose. After about two days of using it, the AC "drip tray" overflowed onto the floor due to it not being able to evaporate all of the water it was collecting and generating. Since draining the condensate/drip tray, and using the external drain hose to have it drain into a container, I haven't had the problem, but I do have to empty the external container multiple times a day. As for the noise, the quietness is overstated. It's about as loud as you would expect of a fan and the vibration of the compressor adds significantly to the noise it generates even on the low setting, but that's not something I need to worry too much about as I don't run it whilst sleeping. I'm fairly sure that if you want an actually quiet experience you would need to get an AC with the compressor/fan part outside.

[EDIT 2] JUNE 2026 Handyman says the fan has shattered, irreparable (see photo). consequently compressor is kaput as well. [EDIT 1] HEATWAVE MAY 2026 Unit has suddenly developed a very loud clattering which sounds terminal. Out of warranty by 3 weeks so expensive repair or probably replace. Certainly not again with this brand, Longhi longevity is obviously not so good !! ORIGINAL REVIEW :This nicely designed home unit a/c works extremely well in almost every aspect. Smart slim and efficient it does the job well at a reasonable sound level. However the poorly designed inflexible short exhaust hose is not fit for purpose. Unless you are right by a window of the appropriate height, you will struggle with the awkwardness of it. It quite clearly should have been longer and more flexible, to enable placing the unit in more favourable locations in any chosen room. The positives: It seems well made (from what I can see), slim and offers reasonable value. Works out of the box without any complicated set-up. The negative : The short inflexible supplied hose lets it down (badly) AND now a catastrophic mechanical failure . Its the recycling centre, for a not so fond goodbye!

I am really disappointed that the host length of around 1.5m was not enough to reach my bedroom window at what I would consider was a reasonable standard height. There was also no window fitting kit packaged within this item, again something I would consider to be necessary and standard. Considering this is a Which? Best buy it falls somewhat short of expectations.

Very easy to set up and performs okay. It’s a bit noisy on full speed, but it ticks along quite quietly at the lower settings. I ran it for a short while with the hose out of the window but then I made up a piece of polycarbonate with a 150mm hole and this is much neater. Just waiting for some hot weather now!
