Total waste of money
So insensitive as to be virtually useless. I also bought a GQ GMC-300E-Plus at the same time. Although it cost £50 more it is far superior.

Easy to use.
Had radioactive iodine treatment. This device gave me peace of mind before returning to work. Knowing my levels were safe for everyone around me was a huge worry. This reassured me greatly.

Doesn't really work. Would like to return

Very Insensitive
Ludicrously insensitive. Not surprisingly for such a small device it doesn't pick up many counts. I have compared its performance with a proper Geiger Muller device and for normal safe levels of radiation it would take days to give statistically significant readings. If this device starts giving reasonable count rates then I'd advise you to get well away from what you are measuring!

Excellent item work's well with the old WW2 pocket watches.

Avoid
Very insensitive. My 1950s geiger counter shows a background count of 10/20 counts per minute. This shows nothing! I have several slightly radioactive items in my workshop, all of which register on the old device, but this doesn't detect them at all.

Works decently well for the price.
Firstly getting a working Geiger counter with a Geiger-Muller tube for around £30 seems to be a bit of a gamble. Other than some old surplus Soviet tubes you're probably going to struggle to get a Geiger unit for less than £50. Most are about £100+ for okay devices. So for £30 this is excellent, as advertised it doesn't seem to detect Beta radiation but I imagine high energy beta may be able to enter the tube, gamma penetrates and reads no problem, I tested it with various check sources and started getting very accurate numbers in real time. The detected background radiation was very similar to other Geiger counters I own, around 0.2-3 Microsieverts in most rooms. The picture shows the GM tube placed next to some items containing Radium paint.
