OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm f/3.5 Macro is PRO Lens for Micro Four Thirds

This review is for:OM SYSTEM Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm F3.5 Macro is PRO for Micro Four Thirds System Camera, Weather Sealed Design, MF Clutch, Fluorine Coating, Compatible with TeleconverterI will recommend this lens with the following qualification: For small objects where the M43 sensor is preferred over larger sensors, this lens has to be a consideration.- I shoot M43 and FF (Nikon Z)- FF has a one-shot-capture resolution advantage (45MP for me) (and stacking via multi-shot post processing)- M43 (20MP and 25MP) has a meaningful pixel-density advantage (over 45MP FF) that is an asset for small subjects- M43 has an in-camera focus-stacking advantage for DOF and convenience- M43 has tripod high-res mode that exceeds FF resolving capability even further- M43 has handheld high-res mode (HHHR) that offers "not dissimilar" resolution to FF (but requires multi-shot)- M43 has a DOF advantage (deeper at the same distance/ f-stop/ focal length) that, in situations, may benefit some subject matterSumming up, while FF (45MP in my case) has advantages for some applications, M43 has advantages for some other applications. For macro photography in particular, there are several compelling reasons to use M43. (okay, for every day photography, there are compelling reasons to consider M43, too!) The computational features of many M43 bodies are equalizers to FF for even large-format printing if multi-shot is usable. (consideration: for low resolution output, almost any camera these days is good enough)If you are shooting small subject matter, want autofocus and more generous working distance (for auxiliary lighting, for instance), the 90mm has an advantage no other M43 lens can match. If you want better than 1:1, there is no other OEM option that offers 2:1. (For small subject matter, it makes a difference: Pixels-on-target for subject matter benefiting from resolution makes a difference.)By comparison, I have the Olympus 60mm and the Panasonic 30mm: They are stellar optics in their own right. I am keeping and will use them all. As much as lens-based IS (image stabilization) is valuable, (in-body) IBIS is pretty awesome, too so all these lenses are worth considering.Specific to this lens:- Image stabilization of the 90mm is a nice addition (including dual IS with select OM/ Olympus bodies)- Optics are superb- Integration with the M43 system is stellar- Handling is superb- Works with Olympus/ OM teleconverters and extension tubes for even greater magnification that 2:1 with AF no less (an imperative for in-camera stacking)The bottom line is that, for M43 (particularly OM bodies with what they offer to macro shooters), this is almost in the category of 'must-have-lens' for intrepid macro shooters. It also works well with my G9 (other than dual IS).Although the lens is great for anything within the parameters of 90mm f/3.5-22, if you shoot macro in particular, this is a lens that helps define M43's clear advantages. The 60mm is great. It really is as is the 30mm. While the 90mm is comparatively expensive, it's worth it if you often shoot at 1:1 and yearn for more. The 90mm delivers!

If you’re into macro photography, absolutely worth it. Takes some getting used to at 90mm and having such a small depth of field, but wow does it take some sharp photos. If you’re wondering, it works great with the LUMIX G9II. Dual image stabilization and all. It’s built well and doesn’t weigh very much, so still able to shoot one handed with ease. The focus ring is also really cool. Pull it one way and it’s fine slow adjustment, push it the other, and it’s super fast so you can pull out, frame up, then quickly focus back in really close. The focus motor is the fastest I’ve ever used. Hands down. If you’re a macro enthusiast and on the fence, just pull the trigger. You’ll likely be amazed!

Love the stabilization, autofocus and lens quality! Takes great photos.

There really isn't any other macro lens that can compare. 2x magnification, excellent autofocus, impossibly sharp even stopped down to f18. Paired with all the innovative features on OM System cameras, there's a reason it's the go to macro set up
