Traeger Grills SPC171 Pork and Poultry Rub with Apple and Honey

I use this rub regularly when smoking chicken thighs and it is a real crowd pleaser. Pairs nicely with BBQ sauce or certainly adds great flavor entirely on it's own. Highly recommend. This is literally my go to seasoning choice for chicken all the time.

I don't have a Traeger, but I LOVE this seasoning for pork. It has a great flavor, not overwhelming and not super salty. It's a wonderful blend. I use it as a dry rub on my ribs and they come out delish every time. Highly recommend it!

I purchased this because it was one of the top ten spices sold on Amazon. We initially used it on a turkey that we smoked and it was fabulous. We now use it mainly on poultry we cook on the stove or in the oven. The flavor is so good. This brand is one of the best and it has a multitude of different flavors you can buy, but many of them have a combination of spices in them that we already have since we keep well stocked on many different types. There is no reason to purchase something like this if you already have the ingredients contained in them at home, since these are somewhat pricey. However, there are several different ones though like this one that are so unique and the ingredients are not readily available. The other one we love is the burger rub. It makes the best hamburger flavor I have ever had made at home. We will definitely stay stocked on these two different flavors, because I have become somewhat spoiled with them and prefer them to any other spices.

Been using this stuff for years on turkeys and chickens. I pat dry the turkey down with paper towels and lightly wipe him with olive oil so the rub sticks good and rub it in. Turkey always comes out nice and golden brown.

I tried it first on some very thick pork chops and the flavor did not penetrate very deeply. I sliced the chops into small strips (after cooking) reapplied the rub to each piece and baked an additional 10 minutes. the flavor really comes through when it's applied to each bite. next time I may just try thinner pork chops.
