Fun game
My kids (ages 7 and 8), had some fun playing this game. They enjoyed rubbing and revealing the clues, and it added a fun twist to the scavenger hunt experience. However, I did notice that the rub and reveal clues were a bit fragile. They were easy to rub off, and a few of them even broke during the game.

Unique and effective learning game concept
I got this STEM scavenger hunt game/kit to prepare for an epic summer vacation. We just lost much of our outdoor space to severe weather, so it's been a struggle to come up with engaging activities for summer vacation when outdoor camps are also unavailable. I am so pleased with the heavy-duty cardboard construction of the scavenger pieces. I want the kids to be able to collect them, carry them around until they find a solution, then feel a strong sense of gratification when they exchange them for points or a small reward. The heat-reveal hint and summary on the reverse side are such great details. I feel like a lot of thought went into the tactile and reading experience of the pieces. The canister comes with a few guidelines, but ultimately, the game is up to your family and to your imagination. You could play with them around a table, or like me, as a rolling challenge. After the adults looked through the cards, i think that the grandparents are maybe a little more excited to play even than the kids will be. I almost forgot to mention that it comes with a cute little color-spinner to randomly select which color you must choose. The spinner works great for 3rd grade and older, but for younger participants (7-9yr), I might just let them figure out for themselves how the colors correspond to different types of science and let them pick based on their interest and level. Giftable: I'm not going to say that a child is dreaming of this in their holiday haul, but it would be a great gift at a birthday party or to a parent, teacher, or babysitter to share with kids. Your babysitter would love to get this as a gift (in addition to a generous bonus$, of course).

Really great educational game, but (so far) my kids haven’t enjoyed it
I thought this Chalk & Chuckles STEM Scavenger Hunt game would be a great way to have fun while learning and practicing science terminology and ideas. We also have another Chalk & Chuckles game (Elementary Chemistry) that my kids really love. The game works that you spin the spinner, pick a card of the same color, and find something that matches the word. The different colors are associated with different science topics, so you could also play one color without the spinner. Green is biology (e.g. “A Non-Flowering Plant,” “An arthropod,” “An example in nature of a Fibonacci sequence”). Blue is physical science (e.g. “An object that absorbs all colors,” “An example of thermal conduction,” “An example of a measuring instrument”). Red is chemistry (e.g. “Something that’s made of an alloy,” “Something that is brittle,” “An example of irreversible change”). There is more information about the topic on the back of the stick, and also a heat-sensitive hint (that pretty much gives away one possible answer when you rub it) on the front. Some of the items are easy to physically find, and others can be thought of and listed but may not be immediately available. Depending on the particular stick and child, some may need more involvement and explanation from a parent/teacher. There is a recording sheet and an answer chart available to download. I love that there are multiple potential answers for each stick, making it possible to play again and again; and I liked the assortment of questions and concepts. Unfortunately my kids just didn’t have fun with this game. Their reactions ranged from, “This is way too easy and dumb” (a 12 year old who had listed 10 correct answers in 5 minutes without going anywhere) to “Mom, it’s too hard. I can’t find anything (whine, whine)” (a 10 year old after reasonable effort, who did randomly draw some difficult sticks). So, in practical use, our first experience didn’t go as I’d hoped, but I think this could be very fun with the right kids and the right timing. I think I will keep trying with the younger one and his even younger siblings, and I may read and pull sticks in advance for us to find and do, rather than having the randomness of the spinner. I can imagine the green cards being particularly great while taking a nature walk, for instance, so we will have to try again with that this summer. As far as the physical product, these do have a strong chemical smell when opening the cylinder. Also the sticks are sitting on styrofoam within the cylinder and each time I open it tiny pieces of broken off styrofoam float out. Some of the sticks also have the issue that the the back pieces are detaching and need to be glued back onto the cardboard. None of these issues bother me enough to not want to play, but I thought I’d mention them in full disclosure.
