Great tool for early writers
This writing book has been a fantastic tool for my 1st grader. It teaches letter formation in a clear, sequential way, starting with individual letters and gradually building up to words and full sentences. The lessons are quick and approachable, making it easy to stay consistent without overwhelming my child. The layout is very child-friendly, with engaging prompts and just the right amount of practice on each page. Highly recommend for early writers!

Great graphics to easily teach your kids how to properly form letters
We’ve used these books by Handwriting Without Tears for 3 kids and have loved them every time (aside from one exception). They teach exactly how to form letters, with fun graphics to the proper way: “slide down and up” with a picture of a slide, “magic c”, bump the line like bumper cars). They’re the perfect small portions that aren’t too overwhelming. We usually do two pages a day. I used this yellow book for my 1st grader and it was just right. My older kids have gone through all the books. The only one I really disliked from this company was the cursive book - it’s terrible and doesn’t teach cursive with the correct slant that you need for flow, plus they added weird flat lines between letters than my son tried to imitate, plus the m’s and n’s are very confusing. Choose Cursive Logic instead. But for printing books, I love this brand!

Tears? Not Anymore - Just Smiles and Progress!
My child never struggled with writing, but his letters were all over the place—capital and lowercase mixed up, uneven sizing, and inconsistent placement. Handwriting Without Tears was exactly what we needed to turn that around. The program’s simple, step-by-step approach helped him understand where letters “live” on the line and how to make them the right size. The visual cues and repetition really worked—and best of all, he enjoyed it! No stress, no boredom, just steady progress and neat writing. If you’re looking for a clear, gentle way to teach handwriting fundamentals like spacing, sizing, and letter formation, this is hands down one of the best tools out there. By the end of the program, his writing had improved drastically—neater, more consistent, and so much easier to read. Highly recommend!

Handwriting Book - Great for Additional Writing Practice
I already purchased this previously along with the handwriting teacher's guide, but my child needed additional writing practice. So, this is the second time my kid is going through the workbook. It's fun enough that they don't mind. I love that the pages lay flat, and the pages are printed in black and white so it isn't distracting with too many colors. This is great for late kindergarten to first graders, and for our kid who needed some writing practice prior to starting second grade and the early months of starting first grade. It's a great workbook to maintain your kid's writing skills over the summer, or to keep them busy over school breaks.

Great penmanship book
We love HWT! This curriculum has been a great addition into our homeschool routine for our 6 year old. She prefers to write in smaller print and this level is really helping her with correct formatting. The pages are also short and simple so it’s not so overwhelming for her and she feels like she can complete a page in one sitting. Very pleased with this curriculum.

We like it!
We are using this for homeschooling with our 7yo. He really likes it and I appreciate that it’s great practice but not too much for him in one sitting. He is happy to get this book out and do his pages each day. And there have been NO tears (or even any sadness) during the process. Once we’re done with this book I plan to get the next one.

Good but...
That would be great if this book includes some colorful pages to attract the kids more. This gets boring after a point.
