Lyman Match Shooting Bag & Bag Jack Combo Kit

Like almost any scissor lift device there is a slight movement left to right but once your rifle settles into the bag and is supported with your shoulder shoulder or even better a good quality leather rear bag, I have found that the system is phenomenally stable. Before even with a good tripod and a stock bag, with my best efforts at 100 yards you could see the scope crosshairs move from left to right over a 1MO a Targets . With this system it is rocksolid, dead zero, no movement at all! Frankly I am amazed at the stability of this unit and the ease with which operates. Unlike another review I read mine is completely silent while being used. A great buy for the price and a great piece of equipment to add more results of 1/2 MOA target matches. The unit itself along with the bag has sufficient weight in itself but I have added an extra 3/8” 12 x 16 aluminum plate with adjustable spiked feet because of the shooting benches that are at the range are covered with carpet. The slightly wider footprint and the ability to level the unit on unlevel benches even adds to the accuracy convenience of use.

I ended up returning this item from it wobbling when it’s in its highest position. I’m sure I could have found a solution but didn’t want to bother with constructing something . It works well if you don’t have it cranked all the way up.

Lift: The scissor jack design makes the lift precision adjustable and very stable. The large platform makes it usable with any bag rest, and the textured surface and feet keep everything in place. Bag: The bag is also very adjustable. It has fill/drain spouts to allow removing/adding fill material to make the bag as rigid or soft as desired. Also, a suede surface in the actual gun rest portion of the bag to protect the gunstock and allow smooth positioning of the airgun/firearm. The design allows spreading the base to adjust contact tightness with the gunstock, so shooting spring air guns accurately is possible by adjusting for minimal contact, while long range precision firearm shooting can be made a little easier by spreading the bottom of the base of the bag to allow the gunstock rest to firmly grip the gunstock. After using it to shoot various air guns and firearms at ranges from 10 meters to 400 yards, I am truly impressed with the lift and bag individually, and in concert. I would recommend them together as they make for a great shooting platform. If I had one request, it would be for a custom fit carrying case for the lift. I would have gladly paid $20 to $30 more if it had come with a good one.

Love my bag. I actually emptied this of its original media and refilled with heavy sand. Unlike a different brand I had to return this one actually seals fine sand just fine. This provides a really solid platform for shooting.

Nice product, but one of the larger bags (the one on the bottom) was about 25% under-filled with the granulated plastic material that the bags are filled with. This makes it impossible to "adjust" the rest. The bag is designed to force the upper bags closer together when the lower bags are spread further apart and vice-versa. With one of the lower bags under-filled, one of the upper bags just flops off to the side, making the rest virtually worthless. I called Lyman customer service, explained the issue, and asked the guy if he could provide me with another cup or so of the plastic shreds so I could fill the under-filled bag. He didn't seem to understand what the material was, or what it was for, and said he wouldn't be able to send me any to correct the problem. This is just extremely poor quality control and even poorer customer service. If this was an RCBS or Lee product, it would have been taken care of with an apology from their customer service person. I suppose I could add some beans to fill the bag, but that can be a problem if the bag ever gets wet. Now I'll have to decide if I should return the item.

Wow...been shooting for decades and I just recently discovered this? Nicely built and a filled bag that sits atop a "transmission jack" like apparatus that can be easily adjusted to put you "on target"...no more stacking bags and blocks! Easily fits in passenger side floorboard...

The functional aspects of the bag and the lift are fine. The weight Is enough to give you a hernia. So while it might be very good as a rifle rest, carrying it to the range is wholly impractical. They should make bags of different sizes Like 8" 6" and 4" to match the sizes of other mfg. Lifts thus lessening the weight.

This thing is working good for me off my bench. As others have stated, it's a little hard to wind the handle up or down. To help remedy that situation I greased the screw rod and that helped a lot. I imagine with continued use it will break in and get easier as time goes by. With that said, it still works fine for me and has allowed me to improve my shooting. It's built very solidly and should last a very long time. I'm very happy with it.

Being disabled because of my lower back, it has been a challenge for me to practice and hone my shooting skills for more than a few shots at a time. I finally found a shooting platform that is pretty much infinitely adjustable from a height of 2 3/4'' to 12 3/4'' without the x-bag sitting on it. As far as the x-bag goes, it is the perfect partner for the platform. It is also adjustable with the bottom strap. When you tighten the strap, the top of the bag opens up to accommodate thicker rifle stocks. Loosen the bottom strap, and the top of the bag narrows to hug only thinner stocks, or the barrel itself. Pretty slick setup! This allows me to adjust the gun rest to whatever shooting position feels the most comfortable, so I can enjoy myself for much longer at a time. The package arrived triple-boxed. In this day and age, when companys are pretty skimpy when it comes to packing materiel quality, it's nice to see a company that cares for their customers enough to ensure their products arrive safely intact. I've been using bags of all sizes and types for years, because my bad back made me into a bench shooter, so having this adjustable platform allows me to shoot any type of gun, either long rifle, short carbine, and even hand guns. I used to shoot for 15-20 minutes and feel drained because of the back pain. I shot for 1 1/2 hours yesterday and it didn't bother me nearly as much. I'm still very limited as far as what I can do, and for how long I can do it, but having this rest allows me to enjoy shooting whatever type of gun, for much longer sessions. I noticed some so so reviews on this product before ordering, but took a chance on it anyways. I'm really happy I pulled the trigger. Great product, great quality, and a decent price to boot.
