Necronomicon Tarot Deck and Guidebook

I had high expectations for this item and it surpassed those expectations by a long shot! I collect Tarot cards for the Art personally, but once in a while I’ll give myself a reading. And I was shocked to see that not only was the art absolutely stunning, but the reading actually correct and very real for me! But the best thing about this deck still remains the art, with each card having an extremely detailed and unique design. I can stare at them for hours. And the book is wonderful. It’s actually really thick and detailed. It goes over all of basis: Ways to do reading, information about the deck, and most importantly ever cards meaning. When you read the cards meaning they give you very specific answers and readings, which I love. Some card decks are very broad or all the same and others are specific like this one yet never accurate. But this one is extremely detailed and surprisingly accurate. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t believe in believing everything a reading says nor even putting hope in one in the first place. I included some of my personal favorite cards in the following photos as well.

Beautiful cards, the material itself is thick and durable shuffling can be more challenging because of it but with time and use it becomes easier. The art work is beautiful and horrifying. If you like the grotesque like I do you will enjoy the art. The book it comes with is helpful it even gives you a few different spreads for options and styles. Which I quite like. The deck itself is fantastic at reading fears. A darker subject but to me offers comfort. Highly recommend.

I collect tarot decks, some for their artwork/design, others for their philosophical insight, or historical importance, and some simply for novelty value. I like the work of H.P. Lovecraft and figured this Necronomicon tarot would be interesting as a novelty. Well, it is much more than that. This tarot has been redesigned to fit the Lovecraft universe, and the suggested layouts are very different from traditional tarot. The basic idea is that the major arcana represent things we fear (drawing from Lovecraft’s particular fears—of contagion, or technology, for example). The minor arcana (beakers, books, torches, and pentacles) represent how we confront, conquer, or give in to our fears. The suggested castings advise splitting the deck between major and minor and drawing them separately. It’s an interesting idea. The cards, book, and box are all high quality. The artwork fits the Lovecraft theme, but keep in mind he was a horror writer, the imagery is often VERY dark. Overall this is a very well-conceived and executed deck, surpassing my expectations.

I opened the deck and my breath left my soul for a few seconds. The designs are awesome and it takes me back to all the stories i read on the Lovecraft series. Loving it and classified it as part of my special decks.

Outstanding! A dark and mystical deck of tarot cards with cosmic themes. The information I was looking for on the listing is to follow: The 56 Minor Arcana cards have the suits of Pentacles, Books, Beakers, and Torches. They range Ace, two through ten, with a Page, Knight, Queen and King in each suit. The 22 Major Arcana cards range 0 through 21, and their names are: The Fool, Manipulation, Imagination, Growth, Authority, Knowledge, Aliens, Violence, Desire, Solitude, Change, Guilt/Truth, Sacrifice, Death, Contamination, Corruption, Sins of the Ancestors, Science, Shame and Decay, Chaos, and The Void. The card backs are symmetrical, giving no clue whether they are upright or inverted- Just as is highly desirable for tarot reading, and woefully neglected in many other tarot deck designs.

Absolutely beautiful deck. I feel very connected to it. My only issue with it is the cards are a bit big for my hands so I have a hard time shuffleling.

I think this is the best deck Insight Editions has put out so far. I really liked the introductory story in the guidebook. Some of the entries are a little lacking for beginner tarot practitioners and/or newcomers to Lovecraft, but I’m neither so it’s not a big deal to me. The overall presentation is cool and I enjoy the artwork.

ラブクラフト万歳！このデッキを手に取った瞬間から、あの異形と混沌の世界に足を踏み入れたような感覚になります。 絵柄はダークで不気味さもありつつ、どこか神秘的で美しさも感じさせる独特のアート。タロットとしては少し読み解きが難しい部分もありますが、背景にある神話体系を知っていれば、そこから深いメッセージが立ち上がってくるようです。 ガイドブックはしっかり構成されていて、カードの意味や神話とのつながりをじっくり読み込む楽しさも。普通のタロットに飽きた方や、より“物語性のあるデッキ”を求めている方におすすめです。 日常使いには少しクセがありますが、儀式的なリーディングや内面の深掘りにはぴったり。ラブクラフトの世界観が好きな方には間違いなく“刺さる”デッキです。 個人的には、紙質がもう少しハードなほうがよかったと思います。

Nicely illustrated Tarot cards, I suspect they are more for the Lovecraftian Fiends out there, ( such as myself!) than the true occult practitioners but hey,!!, HPL has never been just another name from the past than a true weird story writer and anyone who also knows Lovecraft would know exactly what I mean !!! The fact that HPL has his name and face painted on everything would of given HPL a heart attack panic attack, and I do hope he is sitting around trading cosmic horror with those who were first penned by him, may he find the peace he so richly deserves !!.

The art is beautiful. Great quality cards, deck and book. I like them a lot. The only kind of disappointment that it's not tradiitonal tarot deck, in a way that the majority of Major Arcanas reimagined to our fears. So they cannot be used as traditional Major Arcanas. It's the only reason why I am still in doubts if I should keep or return it. Loving it visually, I do not see how personally I can use it in practice. It's pretty limited.

Qualidade das cartas é excelente. A arte é muito bonita. As descrições das cartas no livro são bem simples, então você vai acabar precisando usar mais a criatividade, ou procurar um outro livro de tarot que explica melhor as cartas. Mas isso é por conta do livro ser bem curto. Então, pode ser que seja muito bom pra quem está começando, mas logo vai precisar de um livro maior pra dar mais significado as cartas.
