Dewey rods are the best cleaning rods available. I own two, one is for my rifle bore and the other to clean the chamber, a task I have very remiss about doing. The bore rod is vinyl coated to protect the rifling and has a swivel handle, while the chamber rod is heavy brass with a fixed handle so you can turn the chamber brush for effective cleaning. Like all Dewey products they are very well made and last for years, unlike those multi-piece rods you get with cleaning kits that flex and break. Now I have no excuses for not cleaning my rifle chamber!

Dewey Rods Chr-16 Chamber Cleaning Combo is a 12 inch cleaning rod with the brass rod itself at 9.5 inch and with the red fixed handle, total length is 12 inches. CHR = Chamber Rod. This comes with a 223/556 barrel brush and chamber brush combo. Best part about this cleaning rod is that the handle is fixed firmly on the rod so you can leverage the handle to twist the rod t clean the barrel and chamber. Wish the rod was a bit longer than 9.5 inches (12 inches would have been ideal for my used case). Great purchase!

This rifle chamber brush is very good. It does not twist unless you turn it. Works as it should. Very well built and easy to use.

This is a chamber only rod this is not meant to do your whole Barrel. Would that being said it does it's job excellent.

The thing with tools are they are expendable items. No matter how well built, they will break, they will be stolen or they will be misplaced. Always have extra. Redundancy is keep. Especially cleaning tools for barrels. Of course, do not just get any old thing. Understand commonality. One thing about the term mil-spec, and I use this as an example is finding those common specifications. 8/32 is usually the size or thread pitch (if I am mistaken, I cry pardon) that is used for the chamber rods. It is universal across many cleaning tool kits, so you cannot go wrong. Varying lengths for varying bore lengths goes without saying. With that said having more is never an issue. Stash them, bag them for different kits. My method is making cleaning kits per tool or device - I make a cleaning bag for my AR-15s either as a group or individual depending on the situation and for my pistols depending on caliber. Different calibers will accommodate different brushes or patches. Again having extra never hurt and if you are in the service or in a law enforcement capacity, maybe you can trade it for some a favor or some kit by bailing out a superior who 'forgot' his gear and may need it.

This makes cleaning my AR-15 chamber much easier. If you own an AR, I highly recommend getting one of these. Durable and easy to use. Works with the copper brushes and star pads.

I have one already but thought this one would be skinnier for a .22 cal. I own a Ruger super wrangler and the one I have does not fit in the barrel. So seeing as this is for a .223 I thought it would but nope. So good product as I have one already for others but for anyone looking to use this for a Wrangler, it won’t fit in the barrel. Guess I’ll have to use the bore snake until I find something if any for rods that fit.

Had been using an old toothbrush and q-tip type swabs to clean my Ar's chamber. This is soooo much faster and effective. Quality construction so I think it will be usable for a great while. I feel a little stupid I hadn't bought one earlier. also, because of the size, it fits fine in the ammo can I use to put all of my gun cleaning gear.
