There are a few different adapters out there using SFTP+ or Ethernet ports and all at varying prices. This seems to be the best value for money overall. Plug and play with my TrueNAS box and Swtich with 10Gbps port. Now can constantly have upto 10 1gbps upload/download on my local network.

Stuck one each in a Windows 10 workstation, a Windows 2016 Server and a Qnap NAS (TVS-1271 if anyone’s interested). Works straight away. No drivers required to be installed. Very decent performance gain over 1Gb.

These cards are not officially supported in Windows 11, there is a work-a-round that installed the windows 10 drivers, these can cause issues in windows 11 if you have secured your systems. The chip appears to be EOL at Intel. The cards look well built and arrived in no fuss packaging but they don't support 5GB or 2.5GB speeds, which I missed, so based on these two elements, am returning.

It was awesome in my Synology DS1817+ NAS until it wasn't! Plug and play dual 10Gbe! The model I received was a fan version, not passive as advertised. I was super happy with this and it's only a fraction of the price of the Synology OEM model. Worked perfectly straight out of the box. Just plug and play with the Intel 540 chip. Sadly, after less than a month the fan is knackered. Ho acquistato due schede di rete Intel X540-T2 per effettuare un upgrade alla mia rete domestica a 10G, sfruttando la connettività FTTH TIM a 10G. Le schede sono dotate di due porte RJ45 e offrono un'ottima connettività a 10GbE. La X540-T2 si è dimostrata una scelta eccellente per il mio setup: una scheda è stata installata su un PC/server con UNRAID su PCIe 16x, mentre l’altra è stata inserita in un PC che funge da modem/router autocostruito con PFSENSE su PCIe 8x. In entrambi i casi, le schede hanno funzionato perfettamente, garantendo una connessione stabile e performante a 10G. Il dissipatore fornito è di tipo passivo, quindi non genera alcun rumore. Tuttavia, è importante assicurarsi di avere un case con una buona ventilazione, anche se la scheda non scalda in modo eccessivo durante l’uso. Uno degli aspetti più interessanti di questa scheda è il prezzo: ho acquistato entrambe le unità a circa 80 euro ciascuna, il che ha rappresentato un ottimo affare. La scelta è stata dettata anche dal fatto che, con lo stesso prezzo di una singola X550, ho potuto acquistare due X540. È importante notare che, come da specifiche Intel, la X540-T2 supporta solo velocità di 10GbE, 1GbE e 100Mb. Se si necessita di connettività intermedie come 2.5G o 5G, è necessario optare per la X550. Nel mio caso, avendo una rete full 10G, questa limitazione non ha rappresentato un problema. Le schede X540 non sono più in produzione da Intel, quindi la disponibilità sul mercato potrebbe ridursi nel tempo. Se si trova un’offerta conveniente, è un’ottima opportunità per chi desidera aggiornare la propria rete con un budget contenuto. Conclusione: La Intel X540-T2 è una scheda di rete affidabile, performante e dal prezzo vantaggioso per chi necessita di una connettività 10G pura. Consigliata a chi ha già un’infrastruttura 10G e cerca un'opzione economica e funzionale.

Intel stopped the support to Intel X540 Controller as of version 28.x. Current version 30.5 has not direct support for the controller but you can still get it work with some help form ChatGpt. With a lot of acrobatic you will get the NIC but the product is not supported.

Es la tarjeta x540_T" con dos puertos 10GBase-T. Hay otra tarjeta 10G en este artículo pero el PCI express es 4x yo necesitaba máxima velocidad y he pillado esta que es 8x. El acabado es muy bueno, la he conectado a un servidor de gama alta para conectividad iSCSI 10gbits , El sistema me la ha reconocido bien en un esxi 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 y 6.7. La tarjeta se identifica como una tarjeta Intel Corporation Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X540-T2, que es el chipset ya veterano que correctamente anuncia 10Gtek. Por tanto sospecho que es compatible con casi cualquier sistema que tenga PCI express 8x. La he configurado con Jumbo frame y funciona perfectamente. Trae un chapita para instalarla en ranuras de media altura para sustituir a la chapita larga mediante los tipicos 2 tornillos. He hecho trabajar la tarjeta unos pocos días en iSCSI (con pequeño switch Netgear 10GB) y consigo transferencias sostenidas de más de 400 megabytes por segundo. Por 200 y pico euros es un chollo, en mi opinión. La conclusión: de momento va muy bien y la volvería a comprar.
