Review: Worst oil and gas book I own - I've bought about dozen oil and gas books in the last six months and of course some are better than others. Unfortunately this is the only one that I wish I'd not bought in the first place. The first 100 pages are ok-ish because they talk about the basics of the industry and some basic financial analysis and this is informative. However most similar books do even this part better, with this one being a bit light on quality commentary and insight. The second part of the book, about 300 pages, is a barrage of facts about oil companies, on a company by company basis. The company profile idea is great but these profiles are just compilations of facts and figures with no commentary or conclusions. You don't really know much more about the company afterwards. Most of the operational and financial facts and figures relate to 2013 and will date quickly, if they haven't already. This format might work for you but it didn't work for me. Think carefully about this one before you spend your cash. Review: Meets expectations - Meets expectations

The book IS just a summary of facts about the Oil & Gas industry, but it explains all the various metrics and KPIs used in the industry and does a great job of explaining how all the various sectors work. Excellent book for someone who wants more insight for investing or possible career in the industry.
