Beyond Dog Massage

I'm an owner of two medical special needs rescue pups, and since no insurance will cover them in the US since I rescued them with pre-existing conditions, we do as much care as humanly possible at home. This book is SUCH a great addition to my permanent library. I first found it at my local public library (support your local library!) But as soon as I read it, I knew I HAD to buy this for myself. It's a great visual breakdown of different massage techniques and skills and their uses. Beyond helping my two rescue cases, I've started using several of these methods with my other dogs, who suffer from reactivity and anxiety. Learning how to mix massage techniques (which is a primate behavior) with dog needs (who are not primates and not necessarily big on being touched) has been a massive breakthrough in bonding with my pups. I cannot recommend this enough!

The techniques in this book are easy to learn and follow. Some of my dogs enjoy it more than others.

I am certified&practice Masterson Method on horses. It is extremely effective. No pressure or coercion makes more sense than anything else. Its all about communication w/horses or dog. Been around dogs all my life but I'm not as confident or as successful w/dogs as I am horses. I'll continue to work to improve my understanding of dog's communication. This book was not as thorough or detailed as I was hoping. Almost word for word "Beyond Horse Massage" but didn't include a companion DVD, tiny bit disappointed in that. I already had "Beyond Horse...that did come w/DVD. I believe %100 in Jim and his "Method"so I'll leave this book 4stars. Only cs it didn't come w/companion DVD. That wldv helped alot.

I love all the Masterson educational products! This book is right up there with the equine book… exceptional 😍

I love this book. Very easy to follow with pictures.

I was introduced to the Masterson Method through a dog training client of mine when I added a horse to my family. Full of trauma and suffering from neglect and abuse, we used this method to begin her healing. It worked so well that I began my studies on Canines as well. As I finish my certification, the dogs I’ve used for my training, all who came to me in bad shape mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually are making great strides in their healing. I certainly recommend this book, and also recommend working with an experienced practitioner/healer/trainer to ensure the best possible outcome.

I have this book and the horse version they are both great. I highly recommend trying the Masterson Method!

There is not one thing that I dislike about the Masterson Methods. Following his techniques helped to heal my lame horse. My Whippet hurt his leg a couple of years ago when he slipped on ice. He has had bouts of soreness from re injuring or pulling the muscle from jumping off the bed. When I found out that there was going to be a book coming from Masterson for dogs, I had plans on purchasing it. The book arrived quickly and today I used the techniques on my Whippet Boy. He had extreme releases tonight using air gap. It was bizarre to see him react, licking, ears twitching, looking around, blinking, wanting to get away. He couldn’t understand what was happening to Him. All of this without actually touching him. He seems to be brighter and wants to be beside us. We will receive more treatment tomorrow. I went slowly with my horse and I will do the same with my dog. Releasing psin and tension, showing me where his pain is will allow me to work more directly on the area of the injury. This book is highly recommended. I won’t lie, I was skeptical. My equine vet suggested this technique, I followed his suggestion and I’ve not looked back. My horse is healed. My dog will be too

I bought the book, as I'm familiar with the Masterson Method techniques and how effective they are with horses. I have an extremely high-energy dog who finds it hard to relax, so I wanted to see if the techniques would help. The book is easy to follow, has clear instructions and illustrations, and usefully, also includes QR codes so you can watch videos of the author showing the techniques. Not only has it helped me learn ways to help my dog relax, but it's also taught me techniques that will help his mobility. I had no clue dogs could hold so much hidden tension!
