Have used an abundance of different gels in my time running. Gu are for me up there in the best category. Great taste, not to sickly like some other brands, have used them consistently to get over the tough barriers during a race.

Switched to GU gels from High5 six months ago and prefer the GU consistency/flavours and I carry fewer of them. I use one every 45-60 minutes during a marathon and don't get the sticky residue on my hands and clothes that I got with lighter, sugary gels. The Vanilla Bean and also the Chocolate Outrage are two of my favourite tasting GU's but Lime, Strawberry and Salted Caramel also very pleasant. Great product.

These are great. Previously used SIS which were a bit more watery and didn't 'last' as long. First tried them as were at the pit stops on the silverstone half marathon. The GU ones are quite thick, bit like piped icing going onto a cake. Taste great without being sickly, recommends around every 45mins so last longer than others do. Overall very pleased

I tried out several different gels on my long runs and these are the most tasty and least gag-reflex-inducing that I tried. You need to have water straight away afterwards, or you will end up with a sticky mouth, but they are quick to take and effective.

I'm presently training for a marathon. I've used gels in most other events (the Mars bars they provide in Beachy Head were an exception) but very much dislike the taste and they don't seem to be totally acceptable to my digestive system I want a caffeinated product since I read somewhere once that this is supposed to help glucose uptake into my elderly muscles. A friend had let me taste her chocolate Gu gel and I was won over in an instant. I chose Vanilla thinking a blander flavour might suit a multiple gel event since I intend to take one every 5 miles. However, it's not really bland at all: think a really rich vanilla ice cream. Others have already pointed out the thickness but you have to squeeze many gels so that's not an issue. One disadvantage for me is that the shorter and therefore fatter shape makes fitting them into the elastic loops my existing belt a problem so I'll have to adapt it. The other issue is that Gu make most flavours with a shot of caffeine (Expresso has a double dose) but some without any at all and the descriptions on Amazon don't always make it explicit which are which. Used them mainly for longer distances, like trail marathons and half marathons.Chose to give them a chance after reading that it's a favourite of top marathon runners and liked that they contain the 3 amino acids vital for muscles.The added Caffeine gives you a little boost, for those moments when you start loosing motivation.Taste if good as well, not causing any stomach upset. A bit thicker than the other gels I was used to.

This is the gooiest energy gel I've used. Almost like the consistency of bubble gum. Good value, and it does the job. Highly recommmended.

Tastes good, easy to open, good consistency to consume on the run. Got me through a half marathon. Pretty good price.
