I don't any problem with my hands so I don't use this often, just the occasional stiff jar lid. Using the recessed side is easy as it stays on top of the jar. The other side is a bit awkward as you have to get it on far enough but not too far and not press it down when opening the jar. The only real issue is that the largest opening is not quite large enough for some jam jars, e.g. Bonne Maman.

I bought this for my mum some time ago and was delighted to see it still in use when I visited her recently. She has arthritis in her hands which makes opening jars and bottles pretty challenging. While she has tried various gadgets to overcome this in the past, she said that this one is far more comfortable and effective due to the range of sizes it can tackle and the 'grippy' material used. I have tried the opener myself and found it comfortable and effective. It made short work of a metal cap on a bottle of cordial. This is simple and doesn't look much, but it certainly does the job. I think it is a great tool for anyone with fine motor or grip difficulties, or anyone faced with a stubborn lid. Saves time and frustration and avoids hands.
