Cheap but mighty
Cheap but mighty. I already have one of the newer versions, but picked this up to cover a blind spot in my living room so I can check on my dog when I’m not home. It does exactly what I need, clear video, easy setup, and reliable connection. Great value for the price.

Recommend!
I just bought four of these little cameras in the last month. They are very reasonably priced and I was afraid they wouldn’t be of good quality. I was wrong. The pictures are clear, the colors are crisp. The app is easy to use and has many useful functions and options for settings. The whole set up of cameras and app took about 5 minutes each. They are very responsive to movement and sound and you can adjust the sensitivity. I like that you can set a “detection zone” if you want to cut down on extraneous detections, so instead of monitoring the entire front yard I can just set it to detect if someone actually comes onto my porch if I want. I like that I can also hear what’s outside when in the live mode (and speak to someone outside). The siren, microphone and spotlight work very well. You can set it to make an audible “WYZE” tone outside if it detects someone OR to let them know they are being recorded. I actually have a couple of mine sitting on outside window ledges with the cord coming in under the window to plug in. The cords are flat so it works. The others are mounted outside near outlets and they came with what you need to mount them. I’m not paying for the iCloud storage for the videos because I don’t need it. And since I’m not doing the advanced monitoring there are functions that I don’t get. But that is ok for me right now. Overall, I’m very happy with them. Considering getting one more. You can look back through the recording and they are marked where there were sound/movement detections. My only negative is that you can look back at the video on the app in 30 second increments rather than actually “scrolling” so you could miss something that wasn’t detected. If I take the SIM card out and put it in my laptop I can do more of a “scroll”. I have had a few episodes of verified movements that weren’t detected/notified/marked on the video but nothing big. That aside, I highly recommend. And I’ll add that 10 days after getting these one of my cameras recorded a neighbor’s trailer being stolen. So while I didn’t have the alarm/notification set to go off overnight on that particular camera I was able to give them the footage which they say has been helpful.

The camera is just fine... but the Cam Plus service will frustrate you!
This review isn't really about the camera, but the "optional" service provided by Wyze, Cam Plus. Honestly, there isn't much difference between this cam and similar cams on the market. The one I had before this might have arguably been better, but it was somewhat big for my needs so I got this one. Also, I wasn't happy with motion tracking for my pet. They Wyze OG camera construction and quality of the camera is good, however you need to use Cam Plus and/or a SD card to get any real benefit out of this cam. This is where my aggravation comes in. When I first got the camera, I setup motion tracking. Now, its important to note that I use this to monitor my bearded dragon. The AI for these cameras typically expect you to be monitoring a cat or dog, so I turned off the "pet" and other "smart" events because it wasn't working as expected and just set up all motion for event tracking. The last camera didn't catch any of the lizards movement, but the Wyze cam actually tracks movement and occasionally even labels him as "pet". I was happy with this , but lately the service is only catching the beginning and ending of movement. For example, it catches my lizard approaching and leaving the food bowl, but does not show me if he ate or not. I assume this is because of a "cool down" period in the motion tracking. This wouldn't be a major issue for just pet tracking, but I can see how this has security implications. You could see someone approach and leave your house, but miss them actually stealing your packages! For my needs, this is an issue. I am writing a book on pet nutrition and I need to be able to observe my pet eat the food I make so I can take notes. Simply knowing he went over to the food bowl does not help. In other words, I need this for research and Wyze is failing me. To alleviate this problem, I bought an SD card. Now all activity is captured but my problem is not resolved because it is very slow to review the footage from the SD card and if there is a way to speed up playback, I do not see that option. I have tried scrolling and going to the exact time that I know activity happened and still I see nothing in the footage. The timeline will tell you there are events, but not play them. You have to click on the number of events icon to open up a separate even slower timeline that will eventually display what I'm looking for. I haven't done so yet, but I suspect my only way to resolve this is to record the section of footage I know the activity happened at from the SD card, download it to another application, and then view it at the speed I want. That's too much work when I'm already paying for Cam Plus. A simple "jump to" command where I can enter a time and view what happened then, would go a long way. My last issue with Cam Plus is the application and web view. The web view sucks due to a lack of features and its the one I use most often to monitor my pet. Unlike my previous camara and accompanying service, I cannot record, take pictures, etc. from the web view. This can only be done in the app. I wfh and am at my desk all day with web view open. If my lizard does something that I want to capture I have to open my phone quickly and hope I can catch it in time or just record it later using the process described above. Another issue is having to log in to web view every single time WITH multi-factor authentication even though I only access it from the same computer on the same network every time. Recently, a "Remember me" option was added but stopped working after a week. Generally, I am happy with the camera but extremely frustrated with the Cam Plus service. I'm going to stick it out because I have already invested this much, but if there isn't improvement soon I will be looking for a new camera and service. For those of you who haven't made the investment yet, I recommend spending more time researching the Cam Plus service instead of the camera. Again, its a camera, it will do the job it was made to do. But like any camera, how you use it and the tools it uses (Cam Plus) make a huge difference.

Stop Looking And Just Buy Them
Has everything you could need. Very easy to use and easy to setup and install, even for people with no technical knowledge. Clear picture, night vision, microphone, WiFi. AI so you can choose if you want it to detect people, pets, cars, etc. so you don’t get unnecessary notifications. The app is easy to use. You really can’t get a better camera for the price.

Died in 3 days
Many years back I purchased a half dozen of the v1 Wyze cameras when they had a deal where each one came with a 32gb micro SD card for storage. I never actually used those cameras until now , almost 6 years later. Over the course of less than 1 year, 4 out of the original 6 V1s have died on me, all randomly with no damage, not during rain or anything else obvious that could have killed them. And ALL 6 of the SD cards that came with them were bad, not a single card worked in these cameras or any other devices. Formatting didn’t even work on half of them, they just wouldn’t accept a format at all. Now, I assumed this was all just bad luck or maybe they had a rough start with their early version cameras, seeing how much everyone loves them still today I decided maybe it was a good idea to forget about the V1s and get one of their modern cams instead of constantly replacing the V1s. . So fast forward to today time, I picked up this OG cam when they were on sale for $20 something dollars in the summer of 2025. Of course once again, I didn’t even open the box until last weekend , the end of March 2026. This camera set up nice and easy compared to the original versions. It still wouldn’t accept the Wyze branded SD card…no surprise, but everything else worked well and I could notice the upgrades in speed and image quality. It was all smooth sailing for 3 whole days. And than around noon on the 3rd day it was installed, it stopped giving me event updates. Come to realize it wasn’t connected anymore, and it wouldn’t connect no matter what I did on the app. Finally had time that evening to check the physical camera itself and found out that it’s dead. Like dead dead, no lights, no noise , absolutely no response at all after plugging it into the factory charger & wire; and nothing happens when holding the button to factory reset it either. Now I’m not exaggerating, not even 3 full days this thing lasted before doing the same exact thing the old V1s would do, just randomly die without warning or symptoms prior. This one’s still clean as a whistle too! No dust, no smudges, it looks (and is) still brand new! There hasn’t been any rain in 3 days, this things mounted under a covered porch anyways, it can’t even get a splash of a raindrop let alone fully rained on, and it’s not even in direct sunlight either. The ambient temps have been between 65-78 degrees the last 3 days it was running. It’s been plugged into the OEM wire and power brick that came in the box and nothing else was used to power it. I live in a normal city in the US, we don’t have unreliable main’s voltage or frequent power surge events. There is no feasible explanation for why this current camera could or would have died in such a short amount of time given the fact that all instructions were followed to a T and you couldn’t ask for a more forgiving ambient environmental situation here, it’s far from being too cold or too hot to operate efficiently, it’s the perfect range of ambient temperature and humidity currently in FL for any consumer electronics to be operating in. It should also be noted that when I was looking thru the last few recorded events on the cam before its demise, I realized that it missed some very obvious events that should have been recorded but weren’t. To illustrate without dragging on forever…. This cam was being used for my front door, primarily as the watchdog for my mailbox and package pickup/dropoff area. I have dozens of packages getting picked up and dropped off by all carriers thru out the day, and I’ve come to learn their schedules. I noticed on the day the cam died and around the time it died, it was missing whole events that would have shown the mailman walking up and picking up boxes and putting mail in the mailbox, the camera is focused right in that area and a person standing at the mailbox would take up 25% of the entire viewing frame, aka, impossible to accidentally miss. It caught me putting boxes outside for pickup around 9am and raising the mailbox flag. It caught a random pedestrian on the street around 9:30. Than the next event isn’t until 11:30 am when Amazon came to deliver some packages…but I noticed when they came the mailbox flag was down and the boxes I put out were gone, yet no event recorded for usps doing so. I checked the tracking numbers and they indeed were there and they did pick my stuff up at 10:00am, AND the postal worker most likely had to make two trips to my porch so everything could be carried. And the cam missed ALL of that event. But than caught a different drop off an hour later. Than I believe missed one or two other drops offs by FedEx and another Amazon but recorded more pedestrians in between. Than everything went dark with no more events and zero power going to the cam. Of course I’m almost a year past my return window because I let it sit around in the box for too long. Luckily they’re cheap but I’ve really had enough with this company, I’ve never had so many products die so quickly without any good reasoning. The whole point of getting these goofy little cameras was so that I could transition away from my commercial grade Bosch/Axis setups that I was using at home for years but has just become too bulky and it’s always been way more than I really needed for home but I had the hardware already and it’s obviously leagues above these disposable IP cameras by all metrics, besides form factor and convenience of course. But realistically, I have Bosch flexidomes that have been running for over 10 years without a hiccup and now I have a dead Wyze that couldn’t make it past 3 days and 4/6 of my Wyze V1s dead in less than 1 year….i guess I’m sticking with the commercial grade stuff because I really can’t bring myself to buy another disposable Wyze cam at this point, the amount of times I’ve started and stopped the monthly service subscription is ridiculous enough is it is Now I’m not gonna sit here and say absolutely don’t buy one, but what I will say you need to 100% do if you are buying one, is start using it the day it gets delivered because that return window will come and go before you know it. And had I not egg mine in their boxes so long, most of them could have been returned because they died in less than 30 days after setup….

Absolute best quality camera for the price. Wait for a sale
I have bought dozens of these cameras for myself my brother and my dad. The cloud service is pretty decent, and I feel as though it is more secure than some of the other brands. I have SD cards and all of my cameras and it is very easy to go back and see what happened if the detection service didn't pick it up. You can have notifications turned on that will tell you if anything happened and you can customize them which is really nice. There is some lag every once in awhile and getting it connected but I honestly think that it was just the internet. Definitely use the phone app versus the web UI because the web version is not very good as far as I can see. They're pretty durable, I had one that was magnetically stuck to a building fall off during the last snowstorm and it still works. I will say though if it comes unplugged or if you do not plug it in correctly and the seal isn't set up, it will get waterlogged and it will corrode. The camera quality is really decent, it is not as good as they advertise as far as I'm concerned. With that being said, the night vision at least on the newer cameras is absolutely insane. It looks like it's daytime outside even when it's dark. I couldn't believe it. I have a Google home setting on my desk and it will be 8:00 p.m. and still look like it's daylight. Definitely an awesome product and I will be buying more eventually.
