BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 Dash Cam Battery Pack (with Spliced Hardwiring Kit for Thinkware Dash Cams)

This thing is amazing! I didn't want to hardwire my dash cam to my car. This battery pack allows me to plug the dash cam into the "cigarette lighter" port of the battery pack and keep the camera rolling while the car is parked. It also has a usb port so I can plug my little humidifier in the car and keep it running while I'm out of the car. It recharges very quickly! As long as the car is running, the battery pack recharges and when I'm parked it available for the camera. Overall it's a great product.

It charges quickly and provides peace of mind, especially during long trips or when parked.

I bought this as a way to enable parking mode on my VIOFO A229 Pro without needing to wire it directly to my car. By having the battery connected to the cigar jack, I can manually turn the dashcam on and off, and choose when I want parking mode enabled instead of having 24/7 recording. This also allows the battery to charge as I drive, but this may be a downside if you have a short commute time. I tested the battery after a normal commute of 20 minutes and 9 hours of parking mode recording. Started the drive at 75%, parked at work with 99%, started driving back home after 9 hours of parking mode at 50%, and finally got home with 69%. The 50% drop after 9 hours might be a dealbreaker to those wanting this battery as a more long-term recording solution. If you want this battery to work as a 24/7 solution, you might be better off connecting your camera directly to your car as the capacity is too small, especially with a low commute/charge time. Otherwise it's pretty good as a 'manual' solution or as a backup power source.

Best battery for the dash camera parking mode, if you want not just simple event recording, but record video continuously even when car is parked! Event recording usually does not works well as, depends of quality of movement detector it can record everything like even tree branch movement or almost nothing, if it is only crash detector - so you will never know who scratched your car. The only wish for the manufacturer so they updated the FW of the battery so it will turn off itself and the dashcam when my car at home in the garage! - It is just wasting of battery charge and dashcam memory to power camera to record my garage whole nigh! Usually people already have security camera in the garage if they want the surveillance there! Battery already have Bluetooth and FW update usb connector, so just add Bluetooth Beacons detection and i can put one in the garage or any other known to be secure place to save the battery charge and dash cam memory card!

2019 ram 1500 using Vantrue n5 with voltage display hardwire kit. Parking mode didn’t work with the hardwire kit from Vantrue. Works perfectly fine with the cigarette socket though in the powercell 8. Attached the powercell 8 to fuse F66 run-accessory feed 10A.

Over engineered and for people who are professional installers. It only charges via cigarette lighter and hogs it all with no USB outlet attached so you won't be able to use that lighter again. I'll be returning this. It's too complicated.

I use my vehicle every day and this battery backup keeps my camera going all day and at night. If you don’t drive every day, it won’t be able to keep your camera up and running 24/7 and you should invest in a second battery. This is an excellent choice!!

Good battery easy to connect to car gives me about 40 hours per charge unless I connected to a fuse that's always on then it's 100% at all times. which probably isn't good for the battery life.

I recently bought the PowerCell 8 and the new 70mai A810 dashcam. Even though this dashcam battery comes with the Thinkware output cable the BlackBoxMyCar team told me that it would be possible to splice in my own hardware kit. I was able to get my 70mai dashcam's hardwire kit spliced in. Will note that the ACC and Constant power cable colours were flipped so I ended up soldering the yellow to red and red to yellow. Impressed with the duration of parking mode recording I'm able to get. Slightly under 24 hours with a dual channel dash cam and I don't have to worry about draining my car's battery. The main reason I got this was because I read that BMWs don't like their batteries draining while parked. Helps remove a future headache.

Doing the hardwire install was fairly easy!! So happy that I don't have to worry about the car battery draining overnight while the Dashcam is in parking mode.

It has held up well after two years. Keeps my dashcam active. The app itself is the worst part. Lots of crashes, the design looks dated. It could be so much better, but I doubt they would improve it much. I can’t remember the last time it was updated.

Needed for Hybrid car for 24hr surveillance. Included everything you need.

With the new u3000 in full operation I can get 22-24 hours parking. In Radar mode and in a quiet place the THINKWARE u3000can achieve more than 8 days.
