I have Bose over the head headphones and need a 5metres cable, the end that goes into headphones is thinner then the but that goes into tv.

I think you will need also need converter then to make the end wider.

Would this male-to-female cable work for female-to-male connection?

Yes. As you can see the pointy end is the male end and the one with the hole is the female end. Just check it is what you need. If you use the female end to connect to device (eg headphones) then the male end is left to connect to pc or laptop or tablet.

I want to use this as an extension cable for the rode video micgo. Will it work for that?

If it used a standard 3.5mm jack then yes. I don’t have the video mic to test though.
