Well built, good value for the money!
No complaints with this pump after a year of use. i live in a 155 year old Ohio farmhouse in a wet area, and with a rubblestone foundation water is going to come in at times, just have to pump it back out. Been here 34 years and have gone thru a number of pumps. My sump is small and somewhat shallow and submersibles cycle too much and I keep replacing switches, so I went back to a pedestal style which allows a wider range of control. The fact this pump is almost all stainless or cast iron signals that it should last beyond the 5 yr warranty which I also like. This pump is heavy also, which means it stands on its own and is very stable. I have no problem recommending this item.

Stopped working after a week, but would still recommend it
We first installed a pedestal after going thru three in-water sump pumps in less than three years. It lasted for about ten years before it had to be replaced. These are built extremely well. Unfortunately the one we purchased failed after a week and Amazon replaced it at no charge. I believe that was a fluke and highly recommend this brand and pedestal pumps in general. If your sump well bottom is rocks or dirt, a trick we used is to use a pizza stone or sidewalk paver as the foundation for the pump to prevent it from sucking up muck and pebbles.

Build quality and SUPER quiet!
Super quiet and powerful. Cant imagine a better built unit. 1/2 hp version less than the smaller more common (supply and demand??)1/3 hp stainless steel version. R ET older my 20 yr old 1/3 fluted that is thought was fairly quiet and Wow!! What a difference. This Superior sump pump is so well built with high with cast iron and stainless steel pieces it may outlast me! I did not receive any perks for my review. It just way exceeded my expectations and so quiet. Highly recommended!

Great quality, easy install, great price for quality!
I had a very old pedestal sump that went out and this is the first experience Iโve had with sump pumps and saw dollar signs swirling through my head in a little bit of panic. After quite a bit of online research, I decided to buy this one because of the cast iron base and other cast iron or stainless steel parts (who knew there were pumps under $100 but made of PLASTIC?! Eww!). My sig other and I installed in about an hour. Iโd purchased every shape of PVC coupling and angles so we wouldnโt have to go back to the store, got some great PVC glue and it went very smoothly. We love DIY projects but feared this might be out of our league but was surprisingly easy. Will update review if anything fails but appears it will last another good many years just like the first one did.

Screws mounting motor were out in box
I bought this pump for the higher water level allowance versus a submersible one. The pump was delivered upside down in the box and when I pulled the pump out, two of the three screws that hold the motor onto the shaft were in the box, loose. Once the screws were reinstalled and all tightened and the third tightened, the pump ran smooth and quiet. The company needs to improve its quality control before allowing it to be boxed and shipped. Hopefully, it will last. It has been running 12 times a day for three minutes each cycle for the past two days with no issues. I also wanted to point out that is was bought on Amazon as an open box or used, which could probably explain why the screws were not tightly installed and laying loose in the box. The pump has been running for 7 months at the writing of this update. It has run over 2000 times and over 100 total hoursโฆstill going strong.

Seems to be outlasting the fully submerged type we've bought previously.
I bought this type because the submerged models always seem to fail after 2 years. Because of where we live this works pretty regularly from May-Oct in our crawl space. I think the actual lever/switch part being above water is the big help since it's far less likely to corrode or get gunked up. (I probably should have been using this type all along, would have saved me lots of money). I believe we've had it 3 years now. Will try to remember to update if it fails.

Quality components
1/2 hp with cast iron base, stainless ball float and rod. Five vane stainless impeller. Weighs about 35 lbs. Because of the extra weight it sits solidly on the bottom of the sump hole. No tendency to rise up or float. Box says five year warranty. I like the quality of Superior pumps. Iโm replacing a Superior 1/3 hp pedestal pump which had a 1 year warranty and lasted well over 3 years. Very happy with this purchase.

Product is as described
It looks like a well made pump,l only gave a four Star because I just installed it and not sure how long it will last. Hopefully it will last longer than my last one which was a different manufature which only lasted a few months. Time will tell, the good news is this pump comes highly recommended and has a five year warranty.

Superior Pump 92551 1/2 HP Cast Iron Pedestal Pump
This pump was easy to put together. Worked right from the get go, and seems to be doing the job as intended. I chose this one because of the CAST IRON base, Metal switch arm , and the stainless steel rod guide . I've had plastic ones in the past that never lasted for any length of time. This pump is also amazingly quiet. It also has a 5 year warranty. Keep in mind it does not come with the check valve, but it is sold separately , so make sure you get one as well.
