Filed down to fit
Fits tight on my Ruger 9E. Better to sand/file down the angled faces of the dovetail for easier install. I had to mount the slide on my bench vise and pound this mount on using a steel punch. Dinged the side of the mount but it’s on there real good. It does look a little funny mounted because there is a gap between the front of the mount and the top of the slide but it works so whatever.

1911
i received this mount today and finally this novak mount fit my 1911 springfield operator in 45acp perfect i used it with a at3 tactical aro micro red dot everything fit great except the mounting screws i had to take down the width of the 2 screw heads so they would seat flush inside the mounting holes no biggie will have to get back to you on how it shoots it seems very sturdy and should work great.

1911 rear dovetail sight mount needs grinding! Off by a mm.
I read all of the reviews about this site mount for a 1911 gun and most of the reviews said that there was minor adjustments that needed to be done. I needed to take out my grinder and takeoff a couple of millimeters so that it would fit into the rear dovetail. After that, it fit very snug I still used the set screw and the sight that I used fit perfectly. Anyone wanting to put a red dot sight on a 1911 needs to make sure that they have the ability to do adjustments like grinding.

Not to spec
Does not fit correctly! The dove tail was thicker on one side then the other and it got stuck 3/4 of the way installed and would move no more. I had to use a punch and hard blow 3lb sledge to get it back out!!! The anodizing on the dove tail is more then likely the issue.

Awesome fit but it will require some modifications
Like many other reviewers mentioned, a bit of filing and a few taps with a hammer were needed to get this mount to fit. However, I didn’t deduct any stars for this because I anticipated the work required and have experience with this type of task. Once I got the mount into position, it was extremely secure. I installed the set screw, but I believe the mount wouldn't budge even without it. This was the perfect solution for my RIA 1911, as the slide doesn't accommodate a red dot otherwise. I'm heading to the range this weekend to see how the mount holds up.

thankfully it was larger than the slide notch and could be filed down to size ;)
finally found out that i need a novak style sight mount for my rock island 1911 A1 style, ordered this bad boy and when it came in it was just a bit too large to fit into the slide notch (which was actually ideal since all the mounts i had ordered before came nowhere close to fitting). so my house mate and i broke out the files and got to work, shaved down some sides until we could tap it into place and viola, got a RDS on my 45 now and it's great. may not look as pretty as it could but as long as it functions properly, could care less if there are a few dings and scratches.

Good product
I've purchased 5 of the EGW adapter plates, and they all worked well. The staff at EGW were easy to talk to and answered my questions completely.

In a nutshell - "Professional install recommended" hiding fundamental manufacturing problems.
Fitment was very very poor. I've had gunsmith fit parts before and you file them down to fit. This is not the level of "fitting required". It was dimensionally oversized in every single area by about 20%, which is quite a lot. Usually fitment required things are oversized probably about 10% or so. This wasn't a matter of filing to fit, but rather, taking a dremel and milling away large portions of the object. Angle of the Novak cut was also off, had to file it to match Novak cut angles. So not just a size but also shape issues.
