This is great for steaming, but note you canβt cook with it in
I originally bought this with the intention of making rice and curry at the same time. This is a great buy if thereβs no prep work / sautΓ©ing you need to do before you turn on the insta pot. However, if you need to cook / saute one of the portions before turning on the pressure cooker on instant pot, itβs not ideal as the attachment (thing that keeps the containers together), needs to already be in the pot, and there isnβt room to add the second container once youβre done sautΓ©ing.

Wonderful Instant Pot accessory!
I use these insert pans almost every day, and love them! What I use them for most of the time is cooking my morning steel-cut oats. The general advantage of using the Instant Pot to make your oatmeal is that it is 100% 'set it and forget it', and it comes out perfect every time (once you get the oats to water ratio right - which for steel cut oats is 1cup oats to 2 2/3 cup water, if you like your oats done, but not runny). I put the oats + water in the insert (sans the accessory lid) and then put the insert into the Instant Pot on top of the trivet. The advantages of doing this are 1) That it keeps the Instant Pot clean. I just throw the insert into the dishwasher after use. The fact that there are two pans in the set, means I can keep a clean one in rotation. 2) You can just lift the insert pot out when it is done. Besides oatmeal, I use this insert whenever I'm making rice as well (1 cup rice, 1.25 cups water). Works great for that as well. Just one note: you still have to put water in the bottom of the main Pot (underneath the insert). If you don't, the Instant Pot overheats and shuts itself off. A cup of water in the main pot underneath the insert works great.

Very happy with this purchase π
Product quality is too good and easy to use. I use every day with instant pot or pressure cooker to make dishes quickly and itβs fit perfectly. The handle is also strong enough to support and for me it is much needed kitchen accessories π

Good but difficult to clean
They serve their purpose but it has a MAJOR drawback, hence the 3 stars. There is a groove halfway down the inside of the container, and when I cook things like steel cut oats, it gets caught inside the groove. This is a headache to clean!

Necessary accessory.
I bought these to use in my new instant pot. I have used another brand in stove top pressure cookers for many years. I'm 83 now and am going for ease of use appliances. These are great for cooking 2 different vegetables or a cassarole and vegetable. For instance fresh black eyed peas and corn on the cob.. Frozen works, too. Or a soup and vegetable . In other words with a 6 quart pot, you are not limited to a one pot meal. The time spent under pressure must match the longest cookinbg food. Or you can let the pressure down and remove one pan and continue cooking the other food. I have cooked 2 different driedI beans. Great Northen at 40 minutes. Pintos for an hour. Cooking times under pressure vary according to shelf age of the beans. If you are idiot enough to eat red kidney beans buy a can. The life you save, may be your own.
